Rear spring nut issue

3 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
The rear springs on this bike have studs and nuts to hold them in place. One nut came off and won't tighten back on. As long as other nut stays put, it still works.

DO NOT BUY SCHWINN E BIKES

You will only get 21 Mile range with this bike. Schwinn does not have any authorized dealers that will service this bike. Good luck with warranty issues, Schwinn will make every excuse posible to not honor the warranty. No independent bike shops will service E bikes that they do not sell. Worse purchse that i have ever made.

First, I love the color! The bike is nice and stable, which is what I wanted. I do have a question for customer support. If I leave the bike parked for a week or two (it's still snowing where I live), does the battery drain and it needs to be recharged? Besides being extremely heavy, which I expected, it's a fantastic bike.

This bike's color is stunning. I am 5'3", and the step-over bar was a challenge. I was concerned that the bar was too close to my crotch when standing. I returned the bike and purchased the Coston DX 27.5 Electric Bike, which is another beautiful bike. I would recommend this bike to anyone 5'4" and over, which is the spec listed on the website.

I wanted to love this Bike

I really wanted to love this bike, but it did not work for me sadly. I ordered the bike based on my specific height (5ft 10 should have received a S/M). I received a L/XL which is based on someone with a 6ft1 to 6ft7 height. I did not realize the size difference until after the bike was assembled. Putting the bike together was a breeze. The battery charged rather quickly and all parts were included in the box, the booklet was very easy to follow. Trying to get on the bike is where I realized something was wrong. I put the seat all the way down that it allowed and mounting the bike was a challenge. I was able to mount and dismount if I took my time and made sure I was on a even surface. Riding the bike felt smooth the tires worked well for my dirt road shockingly. If I go for a quick ride I have no issues it's when i go for a longer ride that the size of the bike becomes a issue for me. I experience some groin and leg pain, i have tried to push the seat down lower and it wont allow me. For someone slightly taller then I this would be great, or if I was send the appropriate size based on my height.

Decent Option for a Hybrid Bike

I have been taking the bike for long rides and if I were to describe my experience I would say that it is heavy and not very fast. However, the wide handlebars make for good control. Also on the positive side, it has pretty smooth gear shift up and down. The bike also usually struggled with assist going up small incline and topped out at 12 mph.

This Schwinn is a serious commuters bike. It is sleek looking and well made. There are headlights, taillights, and wait for it, sidelights built in. As well as the required handlebar computer. There are fenders too, which are nice for wet conditions. This bike is heavy, weighs more than 50. You can use pedal assist or just the bike do the work.

Best riding bike! And adaptable to you

This bike. I love it! My husband goes on really long bike rides for exercise and I was never able to keep up with him or have the endurance to go for long distances. This bike has given me more joy and I can now chase him down the bike path effortlessly. And when I want to pedal on my own, it is super easy to do. I put this bike together myself, and I made a little mistake attaching the pedals - I didn’t put them on tight enough and when I rode it the first time, it made some increasing noises I didn’t like so I took it to a bike shop to review my assembly. I almost had it! There wasn’t anything too tricky about it, I just needed to tighten them up. The headlight and running lights are so useful, especially now that the days are shortening and we find ourselves in twilight riding home. I love the battery life on this bike! I ride mostly on a flat bike path but the charge lasts my entire two hour bike ride with battery to spare. Our neighborhood is really hilly so I use the pedal assist to get up the tough hills and battery power is used up faster on those tough climbs. But gosh, it’s so great to get out there, keeping up with my kids and husband, getting exercise but also having that extra power to boost my leg power. I’m having a ball! Charging is easy, you don’t have to remove the battery to charge it, just connect charging cord. I just made a habit to plug it in when parking it in garage and I don’t really think about it. The step through design makes it easy to mount and dismount, and the only watch out is the area where you normally attach a drink carrier is a little tight so not all bottles will fit. No biggie. I am so happy and tell everyone how great it is. One of my friends just ordered one and I am excited to go out cruising together. Compared to other ebikes, I think this is a great choice because it fits a wide range of riders and is unisex. My son hoped he could take it to college (no chance!). It has a solid battery and you can really move. I got it up to 24 mph before deciding that was enough speed for me - but the display was easy to read while riding and I could see my speed in real time. A very happy biker :)

I love Schwinn hybrid electric bike. It's very well built, sturdy, and easy to operate. It has a comfortable seat, disc brakes, fenders and lights. I like the combination of the pedal-assist, throttle and 7-speed trigger shifter. These options allow me to choose the right option for my trips. The brakes work flawlessly and quickly. My first ride was a ride around town, and it was amazing. I would highly recommend this electric bike to everybody.

Well, I'm new to the biking world and haven't been on a bike since I was around 14 or so. I am now in my fifties. I wanted to get some activity from my non active job and do something outdoors. I love to walk trails and paths, but I wasn't able to walk as far as I wanted to, so I got this electric bike to encourage me to go further while exercising but have a way to get an assist on hills or when I just am too tired. I'm hoping to go further and further each time I ride. This comes in a huge box, and you will need 2 people to help lift it. It has an outer box and an inner box. I cut the front side from the outside box, so that I could lay it flat on the ground. Then I cut the inside box the same way and laid it flat on the ground. It comes well packaged with foam and zip ties to hold it in place. It's mostly assembled, so you just have to put on the front tire and handlebars and a few other things. I had my son in law put it together for me and he said it was quite easy. It comes with an instruction book and quick start guide that shows the particulars. I got the small/medium bike, and I am 5'6. Just a word of caution.....I cannot reach the ground sitting on the seat! It's been so long ago that I was on a bike that I fell within a minute of getting on because I couldn't reach the ground. Just be sure someone is holding the bike for you until you get accustomed to it. Once I got my balance, I was good, but I don't know how someone shorter would be able to use it. When you stop, you need to touch the ground and you won't. The seat was at the lowest setting. Once I got going, I was able to pedal like a normal bike, but also use the pedal assist by just turning it on. If you pedaled faster, the pedal assist would kick in and you would go faster. I'm still getting used to it, but the shifter will let you go faster as you progress. I am enjoying using it on the paved trails and will venture into dirt paths once I feel more comfortable. It gives me a freedom that I didn't have before, and I can go as fast or as slow as I want to by using the pedal assist. The bike seems well made and it charges very fast. There are indicator lights that let you know what your battery is charged up to and the monitor lets you know how many miles is left on the battery. I am now able to ride with my grandkids when we go to parks or camp, and I couldn't be more thrilled. There are so many beautiful paths to explore and this bike, along with safety gear will let me explore them safely. There is also a head light and taillight that makes you more visible to others. You can easily turn them on with the plus button. Start out with the lowest setting of pedal assist and then use the throttle to increase it. This really helps me on the hills. It changes smoothly and doesn't jerk. I am getting more confidence as I use it and I know it will last a long time. There is a pretty big booklet with maintenance and troubleshooting that will help you keep the bike in top shape. There is also a set of keys that unlock the battery compartment so that you can take it with you if you live in an area that you are afraid it could be stolen.

I bought this because I live in a very hilly area and going up the hills is excruciating hard with out getting off the bike and walking. This bike helps make it up the hill without a problem. The battery holds up to atleast 2 to 3 bike rides depending how hoe far I ride. The battery charges in a decident time and the quality of the bike is what I expect from a Schwinn bike. Very happy with this purchase.

Defect on front brake

Unfortunately this thing is not up and running. We have had a heck of a time putting it together. We have followed the directions thoroughly and even watched a YouTube video on assembly of this bike. However, where front wheel attaches, the spokes catch onto the brake. We have tried different ways to remedy this, but nothing works. We are just scratching our heads over this. Really a bummer since this eoukd have been cool to have.

Where are the tools?

Jennifer - 3 years ago
Unless you have experience with building one of these and know what the parts of an electric bike are - it may be difficult. Plus, it takes a lot of tools and no tools are included in the box. I am including a photo with my review in hopes it will help others interested in purchasing this so they are more prepared than we were. We had to borrow tools from our neighbor. Also, in our case it took the two of us to put it together (one to hold the bike and read the directions; the other to figure out the physical work of putting it together). It is not easy to put together - at least it wasn't for us. The bike does not come with a helmet. All in all - time, effort, and extra money are additional investments in this bike.
