Q: Hi, does this gate have to be screwed into the wall? Or is there an option to avoid screws?

A: Hi Christina--yes, this is a hardware mounted baby gate. If you're installing it into a banister, we have a banister adapter that attaches to your banister without screws so you can avoid damaging your woodwork with screws. You can contact Qdos Customer Support with installation questions including pictures of your home and they can help you figure out what you need.

The benefit with the Qdos Crystal Hardware Mount Gate is that it only requires four holes to be drilled into the wall making minimal damage. Should you wish to avoid screws, you will need to look for a Pressure Mounted Gate. There are limitations with Pressure Mounted Gates that you are not able to use them at the top of the stairs due to the trip hazard and also that should the tension ever loosen, the gate may become dislodged.

A: The Qdos Crystal Hardware Gate can only fit inside openings from 29.5" to 39.5". There are no extensions for this gate.

A: The Qdos Crystal Designer Gate door can swing in both directions. We do not recommend allowing the Gate to swing out over the stairs. The Hardware Kit does include a one way stop that can keep your Gate from swinging past the Fastmount Locking rail.

Q: Can this be used on round bannister with screws, or do I need a separate kit for this?

A: Hi Beatrix--you will need our Universal Stair Mounting Adapter, which fits round banisters up to 5" in diameter. This will create a flat surface to allow you to attach the Crystal Designer Baby Gate to. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to our customer care team.

A: Hi Matt--our Crystal Hardware Mount Baby Gate needs to be attached to your wall and/or banisters with screws. We also offer a Pressure Mount version of our Crystal Designer Baby Gate that does not require screws.

Q: Can this be installed in bathroom for standing shower door? Is the material water resistant?

A: There are components of the Crystal Gate that will rust should it be placed in a damp environment, so we do not advise using the Crystal or any Qdos gates within a bathroom setting.

We were gifted this gate and it fits perfectly into our space and we just love the look of this gate! It was slightly confusing to install and the sliding mechanism to actually make the gate wider was a bit warped; however we were still able to successfully install it as per the instructions and safety standards. It is very easy to operate with one hand and feels very sturdy and secure.

It looks really beautiful! I love it. The gate is safe, but I think if you have a toddler that likes to shake the gate hard then this may not be so safe. It’s sturdy but if you shake it (like toddlers do at times) then it’s possible it can break. But beside that I think it’s amazing.

The gate is very nice looking and easy to install. Truthfully I thought for the high price that the plexi would have been much heavier and sturdy. It seems a bit flimsy to me. I am using it to separate animals, so its ok but not sure how I would feel if my child was leaning on it. A rating for looks, D rating for strength and quality.

I was mainly looking for a baby gate that small pets could not pass through. My six pound rabbits fit through the bars of other baby gates. So far, this works to keep them in their free-roam space of the house. This gate looks nice, but is quite heavy to lift. It’s not easy for me to open it when I’m carrying my baby on one arm. I would not recommend it for use in a passage you need to go through frequently. This gate is also waaay expensive; I think I could have found something cheaper to suit my needs. Ultimately, this is a purchase I regret.

I get so many compliments on this gate! Every time someone comes over, they ask where it's from. We have had this gate for over a year now and have had absolutely no issues. The lock indicator is very convenient, showing green when it is locked and red when it is unlocked. So aesthetically pleasing and so safe - love it! Worth every penny!

We had purchased several baby gates prior to landing on the Crystal Designer gate. The other gates we purchased either broke or our son figured out how to open them. We've now had the Crystal Designer gate for 3+ months and LOVE IT. It's sturdy, with a double lock clamp, and our son hasn't figured it out. It is also very aesthetically pleasing in our home. If you're looking for a gate, this one is worth the investment!

I got this when my older son was little and we still us it and love it. I love that my 4.5 year old can't open it because he can't leave it open and let my younger son access the stairs. We get so many compliments on it too...it looks so different than all the other baby gates out there. Highly recommend!
