If it's something you will keep in place without opening and closing it might work for you. I Put it at the bottom of te stairs and smashes my finger. You have to pull hard for it to close.

I wish this item was more portable and structured but it is great for doorways and the bottom of steps.

A few zip ties and it was perfectly installed! I’m obsessed with how easy it is to use and how well it locks!

It locks on the top so baby can not accidentally make it retract. My only complaint is that the instructions are complicated and mine came with 2 of the same mounting templates so I could not get them lined up.

I do wish it came in a bigger size as we have a long kitchen, however, I suggested this to all my parent friends with little crawlers/walkers.

I really wanted something unobtrusive but would also prevent a dog and child from accessing the stairs and this one fits the bill. The mesh is strong, the lock is super easy to use (love the visual indicator!), and installation was fairly easy. It’s effective and aesthetically pleasing, which is a win in my book!

I absolutely love that this has a locking handle, this fits well in my doorway to keep my little one in one room, easy to open woth one hand, the installation is easy and the instructions were clear. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Regalo Retractable Baby Gate just didn’t work for me. It’s really tricky to install and adjust, which makes it frustrating to use. On top of that, it doesn’t feel very sturdy—I definitely prefer the metal kind for better security. The quality seems decent, but the hassle of adjusting it and the lack of stability make it not worth the effort.

I like how the gate has a lock so that if you lean on it the fabric doesn’t bow in, that’s a huge safety feature. This is also less of an eye sore than the metal gates because you can retract it to the side.

We got this gate for ease of use and to just keep our son from trying to eat the rocks that we track in the entryway. While the gate is easy to set up and less complicated locking mechanism than our metal gates that stump even our smartest friends, I found the retractor to be a bit aggressive. It’s slipped a couple times and has the force to put a hole in the dry wall if you’re not careful! The gate itself is perfect for younger babies or toddlers, and wasn’t a problem to set up, though it does require drilling holes. It works for what we wanted, but it’s not our favorite gate in the house.

It locks well, the tension is a perfect amount. I know it’s secure as the screws were huge lol also had no idea how unlevel the entry way to the bedrooms were, so it was nice to have the spacers to make sure the clips were at the same level.

Installation was somewhat challenging, and the latch mechanism is inconvenient to use. While I appreciate that it comes with multiple installation options and includes anchors, screws, and spacers for baseboards, the screws do not hold well and came loose almost immediately, even on the first try. On the plus side, the gate has a great width and height, but overall, I cannot recommend this product.
