Plush, dense brush for the blush-lovers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am new to using brushes that are THIS dense and plush. I was a little intimidated, to be quite honest. Indeed, I think this brush is best suited for those who really like cream and liquid blush, bronzer, or highlighter and prefer it to be a little bit more noticeable in their looks. I personally prefer a more sheer look, but I will use this for more formal occasions or those where I might want a bolder look. The packaging says this meant for creams and liquids and I would stick to that. I tried it with powder, in order to layer it over a liquid blush, but the powder does tend to mix with the more liquid products and this sticks to the bristles if you try blending. I prefer putting some liquid blush onto the back of my hand or a palette and very lightly tap the domed portion into the blush and tap (not drag) it where I want it. I remove some of the excess on a brush cleaning pad or on my hand and then use it to blend and it sheers out a lot better. The Pros: The bristles are soft and do not irritate my skin, the domed shape comes to a near-point so you can make a more precise line of blush before you blend, The bristles are dense and let you pick up and lay down a lot of product easily, great if you like the color of your cheek products to pop a bit more The Cons: The dense bristles will put down more than you might think, Blending might take some more effort than you expect if you like a more subtle look.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product because I can use it for different things. One way I used it was to set my under eyes. Another way I used it was to contour and I felt it did an amazing job. It picked up just a good amount of product I needed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To be fair I am not a cream or liquid blush user usually, I normally prefer powder. However I wanted to give this a try. This is a nice brush, very dense and well made. The bristles are very soft and it does help apply blush well to give it more pigment payoff.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great quality brush but it is a little hard for me to use. It is very dense and pointed and for me, that is my challenge. I did make the mistake of using it for blush and it places it well but it was hard to sheer out. I think it was better for contour except once again, it was hard to sheer out. So as long as you want consice placement, it is for you!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love, love, love this brush! I have been really into liquid blushes this year and this is the perfect brush for blending and distributing my product. I usually put the initial blush on with my fingers or whatever applicator it comes with. Then I use this brush to pat and buff the blush into my skin. Perfection.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The quality of this brush is great. The bristles are so soft and the handle feels weighted and luxurious. I also love the color of this whole collection. However, this is not normally the style of brush I like to use for applying blush. It's efficient at applying the blush, but for me, I like to diffuse my blush for a more blown out effect. I feel like I couldn't fully achieve that look with the tapered tip of this brush.

The shape for a blush brush seemed strange but if you are a blush must person than you should definitely try this as it will ensure to pack on the color pigment.

It's easy to use design is great for picking up a lot of product on the tip and then use the angled sides to blend it in. Works great for cream blush but I also tried with powder and get the same color punch results. Easy to use, easy to clean and very importantly does not shed. As always excellent quality from RT!

So excited for this new blush brush design!

    Beliza - 1 year ago
    originally posted on realtechniques.com
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited when I saw a new blush brush design on the market and had to try this no matter what! I am a bit of a "makeup / makeup brush addict" and use all types of products but have always picked blush over bronzer and contouring if I had to choose one. This brush could look intimidating at first if you're newer to using makeup and brushes in general but think of it like that big teddy bear of a person people are scared of until they see them break out every word to a Beyonce karaoke song! The brush does kind of look like a microphone too...just thought of that! So back to Power Pigment brush 453- the fibers are densely packed in a conical shape as you'll see in the photos which allows for maximum product pickup and almost precision like placement. Sounds odd but the engneering works here. I agree this is best used with a cream or liquid formula and there are two main methods of getting the best results: I was about to review and noticed those who did use product in photos applied it directly to the brush which is perfect. You would then grasp the handle steadily but not in a power grip, and kind of "stamp" the high points or areas you want to place your blush. I know many people have videos that say don't put blush on the apples of your cheeks or on other high points but I live at the beach and guess where the first places the sun shows up on your skin? Yep, the higher points. SO - you dont need a lot of product because (remember) the brush is designed to grab and hold enough. After the stamp or stippling motion take the brush and rotate a bit to blend and diffuse that blush outward (or inward) and smooth any harsh lines. The second method is almost the same but you can start by placing a few spots of product on your face then using the brush to do your work. I am a smaller person with shorter everything and the handle is longer butbwas eay to hold because it's ergonomically weighted to fit right in your hand or between the thumb and fingers. I want to add the fibers are packedtighter than some brushes - like the ones you want for powder products but these fibers are not stiff or "scratchy" as many reviewers often use the terms almost interchangeably when discussing synthetic fiber brushes like this- but every tool is different and regardless it's another pro in my opinion because no animals were harmed or killed for my beauty routine. This is a major issue for me and just one of many reasons I became a loyal Real Techniques / Ecotools brand consumer!
