Q: How well do these totes hold up to sun light. Can they be left out in the sun?

Roughneck totes are recommended to be stored indoors in temperatures no lower than 0 degrees F and no higher than 110 degrees F. submitted bybbbb - 6 months agoA: Yes, but the contents will be warm/hot depending on outside temps. If they are in sunlight for extended periods, they will suffer sun damage just like anything else. They become brittle and prone to cracking. Ask me how I know. After losing several to sun damage I chose to cover them with a tarp that had UV protection.

A: Depends on the size of the pests. I frequently find stink bugs in my totes but they are stored in a shed not indoors as suggested.

A: In a pinch I temporarily used them for about two weeks as horse water tubs. No leaks.

I remember having these totes growing up. They were indestructible. These are a far cry from those old totes. Material is it's sturdy, and the lids just barely fit, popping right back off if there's nothing on top of it. I'm returning every single one.

What’s not to love affordable not to big so anyone can carry it no matter what u can cram into it. And it holds up the best out of any totes I’ve owned. Some may get warped if u store it weird where it’s not put together. But still will click together and keep your stuff safe. I have about 9 totes of kids clothes and use duct tape to label them and keep my house organized!

I actually got this to convert to a litter box for my cat who likes to kick up a storm and make a mess of a regular litter box. I lined the Rubbermade Roughneck storage tote with a thick garbage bag, filled it with cat litter and cut a whole in the lid for entrance/exit and it works perfectly for my needs.

These were terrible! The kids don’t even latch or fit tightly - they say Rubbermaid on them but don’t seem as well maid as Rubbermaid brand. Wish I could return them but I don’t have time! Waste of $200.

These totes are not Rubbermaid. They are made by a company United Solutions who licenses the name Rubbermaid name. As you can see from my pictures not one but all of the totes I bought had issues. I tried contacting the company and they make it very hard to reach someone (not consumer friendly). Stay Away from these totes as they are Junk.

It was the perfect size to store my very old but precious to me manger scene that had been previously stored in cardboard and had started to show signs of wear. I decided it needed something with more protection but had a hard time finding one with the appropriate bottom measurements. This one was perfect and I feel confident it will protect my manger scene for years to come.

There are no totes comparable to Rubbermaid Roughneck. We have some that are 25 years old and as sturdy as ever, whereas other totes are long gone from cracks and bends. We know people who have shipped books overseas in these totes because they stand up better than boxes. They can handle being stacked 3-4 high over time. Just wish they still carried multiple colors, as we like to group items by color.

do NOT buy the gray rubbermaid roughneck in any size; the lids are hard and loose fitting and will break (crack into several places) under the weight of stacking (less than 50 lbs); if you can find the old (not new) ones that are dark blue you'll be much better situated, the gary ones are CRAP!

I have several older roughneck storage totes. These are by no means close to what I have. The entire container is thinner and the lids did NOT snap on at all ! When placed on top they were loose. I could lift them right off. I went through an entire stack trying to find one that would lock. No luck! Rubbermaid is not what it used to be! You might as well buy sterlite.
