Safety 1st Light Zoom Nail Clippers

I cut my newborn’s finger. The clipper part opens too wide and is set back too far.

Absolutely love these nail clippers! The built-in light is a total game changer, making it so much easier to see what you're doing—especially when trimming newborn nails. The magnifying glass takes some getting used to, but it really helps with precision. The nail file shape is also a great touch for smoothing edges. By far the best nail clippers I've ever used! Plus, the handle is super comfortable and easy to hold. Highly recommend!

Loved it while it lasted, however, broke within a few uses.

I acquired my first set of Safety First baby nail clippers in 2010. I loved the simplicity of that set and the ease of trimming. I had to replace the original set last month when they finally bit the dust after 14 years of use on 6 sweet babies, and replaced it with this set. I DO NOT like this updated set. I thought the light would be helpful, but I've actually had to tape down the button that's released when you swing the top lever up because it makes it *harder* to see what you're doing (the light blinds me). Maybe it would be helpful if you have to trim nails at night - IDK - but the light is way, way too strong for me and there's no easy switch to turn it off. Additionally, since the lights surround the clippers, it's harder to get a close trim if you need to trim down a tiny bit of a corner of a nail...not really easy to slip the sharp edges of their nails in there to clip off a bit more (I prefer clipping over filing). All in all, a let-down...not much good I can say about it other than that it's sized right for little nails, and that's about it. Sometimes updates aren't a good thing. I'm actually trying to figure out how to get the metal part out so I can use it without the turquoise/white case with lights that surrounds it.

Best scissors…BUT no way to change the battery is a big detraction. I’m on my third pair. I think it is unacceptable to manufacture something today that has to be thrown out because you can’t change the battery.

I don’t often write reviews, but this item is worth the time to write this because it has literally been life changing. My toddler has eczema and often scratches at her irritated skin, so her nails need to be super short. I have tried all kinds of devices, and she’s always been able to somehow create scratches on her skin at least a little. We started using this, and it is the most precise cut ever because of the magnifying glass. No more scratches on my baby’s skin, and she is finally healing. Bonus, I can trim her nails while she sleeps, so I don’t have to beg her to be still anymore. This is a must have item in our house! I wish we had it since birth.

Easiest clippers ever! No disrespect or shame but if your cutting your baby it has to be user error! I have 2 girls and never cut either one of them in the 3 years I've used them. I LOVE the light and how it fits in my hand. I'm looking for a new one since the light is now going out after 3 years.

These nail clippers are NOT safe. The two times I used them they clipped my daughter’s finger. The magnifying part doesn’t work right and they open too wide to be safe for little fingers. The second injury required a trip to urgent care and her finger had to be cauterized. Do NOT buy!!!!!

These Clippers Weren't A Hit In Our House. They Cut Our Baby's Tiny Fingers Twice. I Think They're Too Sharp And Too Bulky To Manage On Small Hands. Mama's I Do Not Recommend. Take My Advice And Steer Clear.

It’s very easy to use especially when I have to clip toddler nails in the dark while they are asleep. Mom win

I can’t say enough about these clippers. They seriously work great. Love the light feature for using at night. I can’t think of any improvements- they are great!

Perfect for tiny baby nails! However a little bulky.

I don’t understand how it has good reviews. I bought them because of the cool features but they do more harm than good. The clippers themselves are hidden far too in making it hard to see where the nail is. If they were to redesign them to where the clipper sticks out more they’d work better. The light and magnifying glass are a little blinding and the clippers are too bulky. I don’t feel comfortable holding them. I wish I still had the package to return them. I’ll keep them and use them for myself but definitely not on my kids.

These are terribly unsafe. The first time I used these on my 2 month olds’ long nails I cut her and she bled. I felt absolutely horrible! I was following all safety measures: she was resting, the light was on, the magnifying glass was in place and I was by a window with lots of natural light. Nope! Cut her anyway. I waited a few days and got up the nerve to try again thinking it had just been a fluke but no, I cut her again on a different finger. She is my third baby and I never cut my other two children’s fingers with my previous orange safety first nail clippers with light (which had since broken). The depth of the clippers with this new pair seems more generous which I think may be the problem. The old orange ones were shallow so it seemed impossible to catch anything more than a wee bit of nail. Promptly returned these!

So, I do not have a baby and am not a parent, but just for another perspective on these- I have rheumatoid arthritis and deal with a ton of stiffness and pain in my hands as well as decreased dexterity. These are a lot easier for me to grip than typical nail clippers and unless I’m having a really bad flare day I can actually cut my own fingernails a lot of the time, which was not the case previously. Needing help cutting my own finger nails as a 30 year old can feel so humiliating so even if I can only do it myself even half the time, I am so grateful to have this option.
