Got this second hand at bargain price. Good sound compared to TB and Bluetooth really useful. Does what it says but not multi speaker atmos replacement.

Having received a reply from Sony, I have now updated the firmware and am now using my new HDMI cable and the difference is fantastic, I no longer turn off the soundbar to use TV speakers, only watched a couple of films and started a few TV Series but I can now hear dialogue great and am very happy with my purchase. I would however suggest that with this being Bluetooth enabled re the subwoofer, it is a shame the soundbar cannot update itself in the same way the TV does but I suppose that this is at the cheaper end of the market and you get what you pay for

This would not be my 1st choice, I have tried all different settings and can barely hear what people are saying during films or TV dramas etc. background noise or music or sound effects drowned out any dialogue. Music is quite good and sound effects on films are good but at the expense of dialogue. Also for some inexplicable reason, it is temperamental. It does not always work, over Christmas, it would not work at all and I could not find any fault, so I ordered a new HDMI cable. Still, before it arrived on the day after Boxing Day it started working again, I have no idea why, I never touched it at all but because I enjoyed the TV over Christmas without the sound bar I decided to unplug it and use the superior TV sound system. Which is a Sony Bravia I have been disappointed with this because I use a lot of Sony products and they are usually excellent.

Letting you know that the content itself being watched has the most impact on how the dialogue is mixed with the other audio elements, you can always boost it by pressing the Voice button on your remote control. We also recommend that you always use a certified ultra-high speed HDMI 2.1 cable for best performance. I purchased this about 8 weeks ago and the sound quality on speechas very poor couldnt here people talking on films as the background music was so loud in the end I sold it and bought a Sony s2000 much better system

Bought this a few weeks ago, very easy to set up and use, one HDMI cable (not supplied) to the e-ARC port on the TV and it's ready to go. I mostly just leave it on the auto sound with the voice enhancer on and it sounds pretty good. Bass isn't as good as a separates system, but more than adequate for a small flat, also has a night mode so as to not annoy the neighbours. Surround effect is a bit hit and miss, sometimes you notice it and other times less so, but it supports all the major formats, Atmos and DTS-X. Only things it lacks is an on screen display (have to use the display on the soundbar but once its set you don't need to go in the menu much).

This was to replace a Panasonic home cinema set, of which the sub woofer had blown. I do miss the back speakers I had , however the sound from this sound bar is very rich, clear and powerful enough for our fairly large room. As a previous reviewer said, it takes longer to unpack than to set up. Looks really good and fits in well. My only negative comments would be that the mains leads could really do with being longer and the sub woofer is very big.
