I have been looking for a replacement hair gel ever since Suave Men hair gel was discontinued. Everything else was too stiff and sticky. I even tried $22 hair gel from the high end barbershop where I get my haircut. My barber keeps a tube of the Suave in her drawer for when I come in and she even commented on the quality of it. So glad Suave decided to come out again w men’s hair gel. It has a light pleasant scent, holds your hair well without being stiff of sticky. It also doesn’t dry out my hair the way the salon brand did.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The suave essentials styling gel is pretty good personally even though I like hair gel with little bit of an extra shine but it's great for someone who's looking for their hair to not pop too much it's got a soft texture it's not very tough consistency wise but it does hold on, little to no scent which is fantastic because you can use any perfume with it and has Argan oil which is fantastic for curly hair, honestly I prefer my hair products in this particular type of packaging perfect for little touch-ups on the go if something happened got my hair messy in some way.

If you’re looking for a product that can actually keep your hair styled and in place, I would suggest looking elsewhere. It’s just not reliable for any kind of lasting hold. Definitely not worth the price.

The scent is fairly neutral, but it’s still available in a good way. It doesn’t smell of harsh chemicals or synthetics. It offers a strong hold when used in the right quantities, more is better in this case!

If you have very thick hair, you may need something with a bit stronger hold to achieve the look you’re going after. One thing I really do appreciate about this product is that it doesn’t have an extremely strong scent like other gels do. It definitely gets the job done, and is on the more affordable side which is also a huge plus. Overall, I’m going to give this product 4 out of 5 stars, and I think this would be perfect for some people’s hair texture, just not mine.

It kept my hair in place and looked natural as opposed to the high gloss look I normally get with gels. On my son, the hold was more medium. Neither of us had any flaking.
