Q: I plan on buying 2 gates. If I only use one extension on one gate, can I use the extra extension from the one gate on the other gate for a total of 3 extensions on the other gate?

A: No, this gate will only fit openings from 28" - 42" wide only.

A: Thank you for your question about the Summer Infant Union Arch Safety Gate! We do not recommend stacking multiple Gates on top of each other for safety reasons. The gap between the slats is 2.75", so hopefully this would keep a cat contained.

Q: hello, our opening is 32.5 inches and the extension is too wide, and does not fit and then we tried it without the extension and it wasn't big enough, it looks like in the comments this doesn't work.

A: Hi! The "double action" safety mechanism of this gate requires that you slide the upper latch and then lift up on the gate. It's designed to help prevent children from opening and to be user-friendly for parents. Please make sure that you have fully completed the installation. I have had this gate through 2 grandchildren and it has always worked great. It is easy to install and very secure if the directions are followed. It's a shame that the 1 star reviews appear to be from people that fail to follow the instructions

I ordered of these. I originally liked the look and the safety of it, however, one of the 2 was bent and became completely useless and the other one stopped attaching to the safety latch metal at the bottom and the red attachment after a couple of weeks. I already had it mounted to the wall with the adhesive this is sooo inconvenient! I’m super disappointed. Otherwise the appearance is beautiful which the only reason for the 2 star.

This is a great gate to use at the top of the stairs- when you use the adhesive backing and drill the gate "holders" into the wall. After you tighten everything it is solidly installed. It's also good because the opening mechanism isn't obvious, and the toddler in my home hasn't figured out how to open it.

I received this gate from my registry and when I opened it, the gate door was bent. It was brand new out of the box and is unusable. Then the store won't let me return it either.

Before attempting installation, watch the manufacturer’s video. I think a lot of issues other customers have can be traced to not watching the video to see how tightening the bolts aligns the gate securely. This gate is great. It feels tough and there is zero chance our toddler is getting through. Installation was easy and took about 20 minutes using the provided tools and accompanying manufacturer video. I have zero issues with the fit or alignment, but again I watched and re-watched the video making sure I securely tightened the end bolts.

Dont be tricked by the design. It looks nice but this gate is the worst. I've installed 2 of them which has taken over 90 minutes. They will not align or stay aligned. It's on perfectly straight and level with the cups and this thing will not align and close. Terrible gate.

This gate will NOT fit all openings between 28-42", despite the advertised specifcations. There are widths that fall in between 0/1/2 extensions that cannot be accessed because the screws have less available travel than the width of an extension. Since this gate cannot be installed in my 38" opening, I am returning it.

If you're looking for a sturdy gate this is NOT the one. We haven't had the gate installed for no longer than 12 hours, and my 13 month old has already figured out how to open the gate door. The gate looks nice but that's just it.

This is a pressure mounted Gate, so you want to make sure the top two tension bolts are the same distance apart from each other and the bottom two are the same distance apart from each other. The Gate also must be flush with the floor. Once properly installed, it will close. Disappointing this is made with plastic. It’s ridiculous you can easily cut this and it’s completely useless. My 3 year old can open the door. The button on top doesn’t do anything all you need to do is lift and push. Total junk.

Please, read the instruction manual. Based on some of the reviews, folks either didn’t read OR the company added some wording that wasn’t there before. The gate looks broken when you take it out but, as some have mentioned, it comes together when tightened to the wall. Also, there is a removable piece that makes the gate only swing in one direction, in case you’re using it on the stairs. Remove that if you want it to go both ways. I installed mine with a wall nanny set to protect my drywall. My only complaint is the bottom lock is difficult to disengage. Overall, I like it so far and may get another for the bottom of the stairs :)
