Q: Is this Vegan? Is it made with mammalian ingredients/byproducts

submitted by TimsArmyWifey - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question! The GRID Ball is made of 100% EVA Foam which is a vegan-friendly option.

Q: I have no clue why this has low star rating. This is an extremely powerful tool and I can’t live with out it. After I open my healing practice, I definitely want to sell this tool. 5 stars and then some...

Q: Is roll or ball better for back pain?

submitted by Nilajane - 6 years ago
  • A: Typically for larger areas of the body that need attention, we like to recommend our rollers. If there is a smaller area or a specific knot that would need targeting, we would recommend the Grid Ball.

Great roller ball

Soft enough that it makes it easier to roll out very tight muscles, but still retains its shape and helps loosen restriction.

This little ball is packed with power! As someone who has an old low back injury, this ball was great at working the kinks out. Went to buy a foam roller, this was on sale, tossed it in the basket too. This has been far more helpful! Bought 1 for a friend as well. Was able to get back into the gym sooner thanks to this ball.

Agree with everyone else on the firmness

I made the mistake of ignoring everyone saying that the ball is too soft. For my recovery, I actually wanted a ball that was quite soft. I have the MB1 as well, but wanted something a bit softer to warm up with before switching to the MB1. Given the fact that I was looking for a softer ball, here is my problem with this. First, I find the form a bit misleading. I've been using the orange grid foam roller for years. That thing rocks. So I was expecting this ball to perform similarly, with a structured center, but a bit of give on the outside. That would be awesome. However, this thing seems like it used the same orange foam as the roller but has effectively no structural core within. You can feel that there is some sort of core, it's not just the orange foam, but effectively the core does nothing. Under any weight at all, the ball deforms and stops being a ball. It no longer rolls, flattens out, and distributes the force differently than a ball would. Now, I'm not one to give a poor review because the product didn't meet my needs. My problem with this product is that I cannot imagine a use case due to it's lack of structure. You might be able to roll your forearms out without deforming it, and that's being generous. If this product was just for somebody else, I'd move along and forego the poor review. But my opinion is not that this product just wasn't for me but rather that it's just a bad product. I would not recommend unless you are extremely sensitive to pressure or something.

GRID Ball - Deforms under pressure

I have several TP products that I’m very pleased with, but not this one. I’m only 160 lbs. and this ball deforms to the point that it can barely roll, whether you use it for your back or your hamstrings. If doing it over again, I’d pass on this and go for the firmer black version.

I love this ball! I wanted a roller option that was more yielding for tender areas that I could roll around my shoulders low back and glutes that gets the job done with out killing me. I would say it’s a medium firmness but in a good way

This was 1 of the first things I bought from trigger point after a friend recommended it. I was so upset because I was working on some really bad back knots, and it was too soft. So I ordered the blk grid ball which is great. But now i've realized you really have to have both. This is great for the neck or a muscle that is in really bad shape, etc. I think it's a must have for your fitness equipment.

Great in a pinch if I can’t take the Grid Foam Roller with me. A little more tricky to use and doesn’t target muscles to the same extent that the foam roller does.

This is firm enough for me (weaker muscles, like I don't strength train). I use this mostly against the wall for my back. Helps pop back and I use it to pressure release tense muscles in the back and neck mostly. Great item.

I call this my magic ball. It is an extremely helpful healing tool to shift the energy in the body. I don’t know what I would do without it. I recommend it to all my clients and I am truly thankful I found it. 5 stars and then some.

Need a firmer version

I am a fan of this company and own many products but I agree with the other reviewer that this ball is just too mushy. It’s a great concept and PERFECT size but simply collapses and compresses too much under normal pressure - and I am an average 5’11”, 170 pound male. Like other products, TP needs to roll out a firmer “black” version or something. Great concept but needs better execution or at least another variant.

I own the Grid X, MB 5 and now the Grid Ball. Recovering from a Rupture Quad tendon. As a Masters Sprinter, getting back to basic, mechanics, strengthen all the posterior chain functions. Walking and now moving into plyo drills. Grid Ball like the MB 5...let me know when that comes out...

Different Experience

I have other TP products but didn't know the Grid Ball existed. I went to pick up a TP roller for a friend for his birthday and threw this in the basket for myself. I've been using a lacrosse ball to work out tendon pain in my right shoulder. Although this works well, it's hard to get to every part of my shoulder. The Grid Ball is working great for me - it made an immediate improvement in my pre- and post-workout therapy because I can now dig in everywhere to loosen things up. I'm working on a 1,000,000 meter goal this season with my Concept2 SkiErg so keeping my shoulder pain free is important. For me, the Grid Ball has quickly become a key part of my warm up before doing an LSD ski or speed work with intervals. I can lean into it with all my weight and it works well for me (167lbs). The only nick I have is the foam is initially a bit slick but I suspect that will wear off over time as it breaks in with sweat and body oil. Although I have only had it a week, I gave it a 5 for durability on the assumption that it's the same foam as my TP roller (two years old and going strong). Thanks, TP, for another great product.
