Q: is it like AC cold air.

A: I use mine with a dehumidifier to keep the apartment comfortable. Cheaper to run than air conditioning. AC only for really hot days.

A: The Vornado 533XT Fan is designed for indoor use. It is a great indoor fan that will circulate the existing air, whatever temperature it is. Recommend one of our Heavy-Duty Fans with IP54 Rated Motor to be used in that type of atmosphere.

I love this brand and I use it specifically for it to be loud to drain out other noises so I can sleep. This is the brand with the loud fans and it needs to stay that way because some of us need that. The air is so cool and strong. Keeps me cool at night. I love it! Wish it was black and larger like my old one.

If you are looking for a quiet fan, this isn’t the best option. I tried it for a week and was only able to tolerate the lowest setting. Someone else mentioned that it sounded like a helicopter and I 100% agree. Ended up returning.

This fan is better than expected. For context, our upstairs office is in a loft that gets unbearably hot in the summer months. With the fan strategically placed in front of the a/c floor vent upstairs, the house is a solid 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature and it’s relieved the stress on the central air to cool the house. Highly recommend purchasing. From reading the other reviews, I’ve seen that some units are especially noisy. While the highest setting is loud, it’s not an especially annoying sound and fades into the background.

This fan is quiet on low. It also doesn't circulate much air on low. Any speed above low sounds like a helicopter taking off. It's unbelievably loud and has a vibration to it. Not a fan for sleeping. It is honestly louder than the one they have for under $20 which I had to return because it started to vibrate loudly after 2 days of use. Overpriced, loud, ineffective. I either got a dud or reviews are useless now.

The Vornado 533XT does come apart for cleaning. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues removing the back grill. The instruction manual has full instructions specifically on removing the grill and cleaning. The manual is downloadable from vornado.com. This is a great fan! We have central air, but our upstairs is always warmer than our downstairs. I sit this fan right in front of the floor vent in my bedroom and point it upwards. It pulls the cold air from the floor vent up and into the room and makes the room a lot cooler. I want to purchase 2 more for a larger bedroom that I use as an office, that has 2 floor vents, to cool that room also. Not quite as effective as the portable air conditioner that I have but it is effective at keeping the room comfortable and it is a heck of a lot less expensive to run than a portable air conditioner.
