Q: How hot is the coffee after brewing?

A: Thank you for your inquiry. The EC-DAC50 has a brewing temperature of 203-205F. The coffee temperature when it goes in to the jug would be 182-184 after it flows through the coffee grounds depending on the ambient temperature. Q: Should I use the water filter if I use bottled water to fill ?

A: Thank you for your inquiry. It's recommended to keep the filter placed during when brewing coffee in the EC-DAC50 coffee maker. When cleaning the unit per the recommended descaling directions, please remove the filter and lid of the coffee jug. Removing the filter will affect the flow of water. I purchased for travels. I like a good cup of coffee in the morning and just hated the taste of my coffee made in Mr. Coffee 5 cup. This brand is more expensive than Mr Coffee, but much better. The water gets to a higher temp, which is necessary for getting a that good flavor from a bean. Easy to pack, I kept the box for travel.

I love this coffee makers! My countertop space is minimal so I needed a coffee maker that was on the smaller side and easy to clean, fill, etc. I’m the only coffee drinker at home, although sometimes I’ll make extra for my husband. This product gets the job done wonderfully. One button, keeps coffee warm, that’s all I ever needed :)

I love this little coffee maker! I have a bunch of Zojirushi brand products, & had no problem shelling out a few more bucks for such awesome quality. The different location of the brew basket is new for me, but it worked great. The manual & instructions are fabulous. I tend to drink a lot of coffee, and this 5-cupper works perfectly for me. Cleanup is good & easy. The machine is almost all plastic, but not the disgustingly-cheap & disappointing kind. I love the gray/silver color, as I’m sick of black. The brewing goes fast. It turns out coffee hot enough for me. The one-button management is great, as well, all that I need. I’d buy this for gifts, anytime. You can’t ho wrong with Zojirushi.
Remove the filter. Don't use it.

I love Zutto. But Zojirushi needs to improve one feature. The filter that goes up top. It's not only unnecessary, it makes the hot water cool down and the water that reaches the coffee grind in the cone is not as hot as it should be. You could only get mediocre coffee like this. I removed the filter and it's just the plastic shell, and I have used Zutto this way for 7 years until the reservoir started leaking. It still makes the best tasting coffee; it beats Cuisinart.

Bought this in summer 2022 after reading reviews online. The quality of the coffee is excellent and easily on par with my pour over or French press coffee. The unit is very easy to use, and coffee is consistent. The only downside is its capacity. While advertised as 5 cups, it falls a full two cups short of that. Using a measuring cup, max is actually 3 cups, just enough for one large insulated travel container or two regular sized coffee mugs. While that’s fine for me, advertising this as a 5 cup coffee maker is not accurate.

I purchased the earlier same model years ago and it was fantastic in every respect. I like a very hot cup of coffee and it performed. Used a different model for other need following this. Two years ago I once again wanted a smaller coffeemaker and selected this same model because of my previous experience. No comparison regarding performance. I have to place my coffee in the microwave for a hot cup of coffee. Later cups are even cooler. The carafe is different but I have not determined how. Almost every time I pour a cup it spills on the counter from the carafe. Never did this with the old Zutto! Zojirushi makes quality products but I would never buy or recommend this model again. The quality is just not there.

I've never made better drip coffee in my life. The pot is priced high but worth every penny. I've been using it for about 3 years and the coffee consistently good. System is easy to clean and maintain.

Amazing unit. The temp of the coffee is nice and hot. I researched this unit and it was noted that it brews a hot cup that won’t cool off after putting in cream. Most of the big brands like breville with the metal decanter get cold quick. Not this one. Sleek unit if u are space conscious. Ultra easy to use. Minimalist operation controls which is Nice. Some are too complex.

I have used the Zutto coffee maker daily for many years and it has been perfect for me as the sole coffee drinker in my home. It is easy to use, clean and maintain. Just remember to turn it off (it doesn’t do this automatically) and be careful handling the glass pot as it is rather expensive to replace!

I got this a few months ago, and am happy with it. The Wirecutter recommended it for a small coffee maker, so I got it. It's so simple to use, and doesn't take up much room on the counter. It makes good coffee, to boot! The only change I would make is to add an auto shutoff.

Coffee not as hot as I had hoped. Does not seem to have an automatic shut-off. Since it only makes 5 cups, or about 2 mugs, I can shut it off after the 2nd mug, but still find that a possible safety issue.

I really like the fact that you can easily keep the coffee maker clean. The water tank is removable. The basket/filter sits in the pot not attached to the machine so it is also easy to clean. Only slight negative is you have to be sure to hold the lid when pouring coffee, but that's not a big deal. Hope it lasts a long time.

My son gave me this coffee maker as a Christmas gift a few years ago. I like this coffee maker because of 1) simple future 2) solid quality 3) size - small 1-4 cups size 4) water filter. Coffee taste good (better) using Zutto. Because of simple design and function, it's easy to keep it clean.

When pouring coffee, it is easy to forget to hold on to filter holder with danger of splashing hot coffee. The manufacturer includes a special warning, but I personally cannot be sure not to be negligent one morning and have an accident. Otherwise the coffee maker works well.
