A: Technically not antibacterial. Though, the US FDA found 0 evidence of antibacterial soaps better at preventing illness than plain soap and water. Antibac soap can actually be worse long term.

Q: Does this Ivory have ANY kind of fragrance? Long ago, it came that way, but it's harder and harder to find any unscented or fragrance-free beauty products.

A: Our Ivory Gentle Bar Soap Original has the original scent. In the beauty care industry, we use two specific terms to help consumers find the right products to use, unscented and fragrance-free. Unscented products may contain a light scent to mask the natural odor of the ingredients in the formula. These ingredients do not have a pleasant smell, which is why it's necessary to add a very small amount of light fragrance to make the product more enjoyable to use. Fragrance-free products do not contain any added fragrance.

Q: The ten bar package I have at home shows 4X MORE/PLUS in the upper left. But in the store I saw a pack of fewer bars with 2.5X and another, I think with 3 or 3.5 X. Explain this on the package!

Absolutely terrible change to the formula. Apart from it not floating anymore, the smell is not the same and can be rather acrid. Moreover, it is not as gentle as it used to be as it dries out my skin very quickly. Will be looking for a new brand.

Ivory soap's new formula leaves a residue that is becoming a problem. You might want to consider switching to a soap with a less creamy base or one specifically formulated to rinse more cleanly. This change has altered some characteristics of the soap, such as its scent, lathering properties, and even its iconic ability to float. Another characteristic is it's clogging drains. The whole family is citing differences in texture and fragrance compared to the original formula.

Recently, I learned that the process and equipment used in making original Ivory was never patented. The equipment was sold and production moved from Ivorydale plant in Cincinnati (P&G headquarters) to Colombia. No more tallow. Now plant based. No more floating. Less ounces. The “consumers won’t notice it doesn’t float.” What planet do P&G executives live on? Also my eczema has flared like never before. Hmm.

It is no longer the soap (hope) that floats. I no longer by the soap. It irritates my skin now, cant use it to fish with anymore. The hope is gone. A valued customer for over 40+ years as an adult and now I am done with it. My family no longer use the soap.

When you changed your formula your soap became hard. It no longer is the soap that floats. I am 48 years old, ivory has always been a part of my life, that sounds wierd I know but it was always in the house the bar soap has always been part of my shower routine. It does not feel the same or cleanse the same or wash off the same , I am now looking for a new soap. If you could offer the old soap again that would be great!! It also has other uses in the industrial industry that I don't necessarily need to get into, and that is causing some issues. On the industrial side I use 16 bars a day, just my company others are having the same issues in our industry.

I have been an Ivory user for over 40 years. In the last year or so you have changed the formulation of the soap to the extent that it now breaks apart in sheets so that half of it ends up in the garbage. I am very disappointed that you changed the formula. Why fix something what isn't broke? I can only image it had to do with making more money. Shame on you.

I will never understand why companies feell they need to change their products that consumers have grown to love and continue buying. Your new formula really sucks, it's not the same as when I was growing up the smell of it has changed it's not the same pure white color it once was the bar soap would float if dropped in the shower or tub. But now it's all different, my question is why, why change it, was it to bring down the cost of manufacturing or because the small group of tree huggers made you take out the tallow that was once in your soap. My guess probably the latter. I think most of us that were regular buyers of your soap would rather pay a little more for ivory and have the REAL original soap back or my guess you will probably start losing market share if you haven't already by customers buying other soaps.

We have used Ivory soap for years in my family. It's always a given during out outdoor adventures too, it was always surely to float so we never lost it while on the lake or trail. Like all the other hundreds or should i say thousands of unhappy customers. That was truly the main and best thing you all going for you. It made you completely different than any other soaps and a true icon in several homes for many many years. Why change that and remove it? Not to be negative Nancy here but no one asked you all to remove truly the main best feature you offered to make "plant based" soap. With the new version's awful smell, impossibility to float, there is literally no improvement or success from these "improvements", might as well toss it in with the "plants" and find something else. Truly heartbreaking to say after being a staple product in our home for over 40 years, truly saddens me to know my son's will never get to experience the internal childhood happiness of your "soap floating" during any of our outdoor adventures like I have previously with my father.

Absolutely agree with all the ACTUAL customer comments, not the "bribed" ones. The change formula is horrible. You can say it is 'plant based', but that does not excuse the crap you are putting in an iconic wrapper. It is slimy on my skin, the bar looks like plastic when opened, and it is NOT part of the '140 years of quality'. It is obvious that you care more about the bottom line, than your customers. Greed is NOT a good thing.
