I purchased one last May 2024. It has officially stopped heating as of yesterday and I also experienced the burning of clothes. I mean it’s good when it works but it just didn’t last long. I sent an email to CHI for a replacement but have yet to receive a response (they said 2-3 business days).

I have purchased two of these CHI Steam irons with in a 6 months. They were great irons until the following issues appeared. The irons would drip rust water on the closes. I have to put shout on them and drop them back into the washer before the rust stains set. Both irons I have had the same issue. The first one, the iron was great for about 1 month, then cord would get so hot it you could not handle it. It would make me nervous to use for any long periods of time as I had a fear of fire. After about 3 months it would not heat up anymore. The second iron, it worked great for about 2 months, I was excited because the cord was not getting hot. Then these last 2 rounds of ironing the cord started extremely hot again. I have decided to replace it with another brand as these 2 irons terrified me that they are going to cause a fire. My backup iron, competitor brand, has never dropped rusty water stains on the clothes and the cord never gets hot.
Love it

This iron functions well, however it leaves a streak of some substance on the clothes that has to be lint rolled off. Maybe this was from using it out of the box, so it may get better. It heats up fast and does the job well.

The ceramic came off and made stains and even burned my clothes because of its stickiness. I bought a second one and the same thing happened within a week.

I am on my second version of this iron. The first I used almost daily for six years before it gave up the ghost. I am a professional tailor and really put that thing to task. I would choose a Chi over other higher end irons any day. I've had three Rowentas and not a single one lasted over 2 years. It heats up fast, has fantastic steam quality, is durable, and has a good weight to it. If you want a good quality iron that is going to last this is it.

I’ve bought two of these irons, the temperature gage on both irons are faulty. After using the iron a few times on the same settings, it started to burn my clothes. Do NOT spend money on this iron.
An effective iron

I’ve had a lot of irons and use them a ton! Pros: uses tap water, lightweight, steaming is consistent, cord ok length, adjustable steam settings, auto shut off Cons: no retractable cord, a bit pricy I think others who cannot get steam don’t notice adjustable dial under handle, and close to top. It does not stain, leak or drip. It is very easy to use.
Does not press very well, bottom stains easily and hard to clean.

Not very good - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
After pressing, the fabric bounces back up and does not lay flat. My other irons do not do that. I have tried many heat and steam settings. It requires starch to lay flat. The bottom is easily stained by the starch and does not clean off very well. I wish I would have kept the box so I can return.
Seemed overpriced.

Don’t assume that the more expensive is better. Cord doesn’t retract. Instructions say to use tap water, not distilled (or mix half and half.) Why would that be?
Notnthe same as my last Chi
