Q: Are the strips separate from the hooks or do you need to use the strips to hang the hooks? Do the hooks have sticky stuff on the back of them, or is that what the strips are for?

submitted by3MHelps - 5 years agoBrand expertA: The strips are separate from the hooks; it is possible, but difficult to see in the picture. I have some similar, the instructions should be the same, or close to this: Clean the surface to attach the hook to. Each strip is sticky on both sides, but with a paper backing so the sticky isn't exposed until you are ready to use it. It is marked which side of the strip is to stick to the surface, and which is for the hook. Remove the backing for the side to the surface, stick the strip on the surface, then press for about 30 seconds. Then remove the other backing and place the hook on it, press for 30 seconds. Then let sit for a while (the ones I have is 1 hour) before putting anything on the hook. The strip is longer than the hook, so to remove, you pull on the strip. I haven't removed any yet, so I can't comment on how easily it comes off or how "paint-safe" it is. This will destroy the strip, but not the hook; to put the hook somewhere else, you will need a new strip.

I purchased these a few weeks ago to hang Christmas lights on my walls and they are awful. They keep falling off. I followed all the directions have use these every year but this year they just don’t wanna stick.

Same as all of the other reviews. Some of them stick and some just will not stay on the wall or on the hooks. I used alcohol on the walls and waited same issue.

Dont buy unless you like repairing walls

I put his up and at night my frame fell off the wall an pulled all the paint. I put some other ones up with some Halloween decoration and now I’m scared that when I pull off the hook the adhesive will pull all the paint with it.

I bought these because I am down sizing to a one bedroom flat and I needed to hang small items but when I opened them all of the sticky parts were dry and yellow. No stick whatsoever.

Junk, junk, junk. I bought these to hang my diecast car collection on the wall. I followed the directions, and with the 205 cars I have displayed almost 30 have fallen off the wall. I had to buy automotive double sided tape to stick the cars to the wall every morning when I get up first thing I do is check the floor for fallen cars. Same thing when I get back from work.

Have to repair and paint wall after using

Purchased from Target Dec 2023. Followed instructions to hang lights in room. 1. about 1/4 of them would fall off throughout the month while the lights were up 2. 3 months later i'm taking them off and the paint and sheetrock is coming off. Will not buy again. Have to repair and repaint the wall. I question if anyone really uses this product, as it would rip their walls up.

Great hooks but adhesive turned yellow,won't stick

Love these hooks for small things, however after 1 year the adhesive turned yellow, crumbled and won’t stick anymore. So now I’m stuck with all these hooks and no glue strips to use them. Very disappointing.

I bought these 6 years ago to hang some paper decorations on the wall. They worked back then, but now I'm trying to remove them and use the extras I had from the initial purchase and not only are the strips breaking off the wall when removing them and leaving yellow marks, the extra strips have dried out and are no longer sticky or usable. I have over a dozen left that are now useless. Adding an additional star since they did hang what we needed to hang when we first bought them. I wish I could include photos or videos, but the photo/video uploader is disabled at the bottom of this review form.

If you follow directions, they work perfectly! It does recommend you wipe down the surface with water (no cleaners), wait an hour before hanging, and be mindful of the weight limit.

I should've listened to the reviews. I followed the directions, made sure I cleaned the area and it absolutely didn't work. I used up several stickers trying and never got it to work. I had double sided tape and the hook actually stuck to it. Get a stronger double sided tape and stick the hooks to it. Don't use the stickers that came in the package.

They must have changed something because I have never had any issues with command hooks before. I bought several different sizes, and every single one fell off regardless of how much weight they could hold. I never write reviews, but I felt like I had to with how bad these were. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from these until they get this problem fixed!

If I could give it zero stars I would! My Christmas decorations are falling off left and right. I am well versed in how to use command strips, I’ve been using them exclusively to hang stuff for many years! The adhesive is so weak on these that the lightest touch from even my finger will make them fall off before I’ve even hung anything! Whereas hooks I’ve had up for a couple years are still going strong. Bought this kind for the first time this year and they’re a waste of money joke. Don’t buy.

Did not hold for even a second. I followed the directions exactly, cleaning the wall and waiting an hour. I go to hang the lightest little dried wreath and it falls off before I even let go. I tried on different surfaces think it was my wall and no go there either. What a waste of money

I used 6 pieces to hang a storage basket in the bathroom and it works! I put at least 5-7 lbs worth of stuff (toothbrushes, face wash, etc) and it didn’t fall off. Works well for my purposes. The product is clear so it blends into the wall.
