  • A: Yes, within 6-12 months, you'll find this coffeemaker will leak --clear water, not coffee--all over the place. Once it's leaked one time, it'll leak forever after. Very sad.

Q: Does it use cone filters ?

submitted by JOY - 5 years ago
  • A: the description says it has a permanent mesh filter so you don't need to buy filters and it reduces trash.

submitted bytarale - 3 years ago
  • A: It comes with the mesh filter, but it is very difficult to clean all the grounds out of it. I prefer the paper filters, which you use in place of the mesh.

Q: Does the Cuisinart Stainless Carafe fit this model?

submitted by Jjj - 8 months ago
  • A: We have owned both types of Cuisinart makers, ones with glass & ones with stainless carafes. My understanding is that on the units that come with stainless, the warmer plate does not heat the pot. With the glass models, the warmer plate is very hot & keeps the coffee at a nice temperature, which can be adjusted also. I feel that substituting a SS carafe on this unit would would be way too hot to the touch. Stick with the carafe style that comes with the unit.

Q: does the lid only snap on/off? can it not simple be lifted on a hinge by pressing with your thumb? if lacking, seems like a huge design flaw for a $100 machine.

submitted by JKM - 3 years ago
  • A: Just used this coffee maker for the very first time and was very disappointed to find that the lid on the coffee pot does not flip!!! So every time you want to clean the carafe or use it to fill and pour water into machine you have to snap and unsnap the lid!!! DEAL BREAKER . I don’t want you to have to deal with fitting the lid all the time & I can see how pulling the lid off and on that often will snap the plastic snap part. It’s going back tomorrow! I thought I searched and researched everything but honestly, who would have thought of this flaw!?!?!? Disappointed to say the least!!!

submitted byGrandmother - 6 months ago
  • A: The Cuisinart 14-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker's lid snap on and off to keep the lid secure. It allows for ease of cleaning and maintenance.

    Great Coffee

Our coffee maker is excellent! It brews coffee and is able to be programmed to desired temperature which is a great option. Well made and good quality product. Our only drawback is the lid on the coffee pot has an unusual design and may not always clip in properly.

This is our third Cuisinart. It's easy to program and makes good coffee, including an option it has for four cups or fewer. However, the one we replaced lasted only four years and then completely died. I don't know if this is typical.

Not What I Was Hoping for Based on Other's Review

I'm not super happy with my purchase. I am used to owning Bunn brand and Keurig Brand coffee makers for years. This is my first Cuisinart Brand Coffee maker. It's by no means fancy but I was looking for quick and easy, this is neither of these things. I'm happy the program feature is easy to set up and use. It would be better if it had a separate water reservoir because the pot leaks something awful as you fill the tank and makes a mess all over the counter. you can't leave it pushed back under the counter because the lid has to open so far to fill the tank. The condensation it leaves could fill a cup of water. The filter and coffee holder are a mess to empty and I'm using a filter with the gold filter. You have to use the BOLD feature to get a good cup of coffee. It doesn't stay hot for long, so you have to rehit the button to hope the bottom heater keeps the coffee warm. So far, I'm not really happy and I'd not buy one like this again. I am still using my Keurig daily.

    Coffee Brewing With a Din

The coffeemaker operates as advertised. This coffeemaker is a replacement for a 12-cup Cuisinart coffeemaker that lasted well over 10 years, so we have hopes the 14-cup coffeemaker will live up to expectations. Two 'petty' cons: (1) owner manual could be improved re programming; (2) brewing cycle is LOUD, as in wake you from a deep sleep loud!
