Q: Has anyone tried making non-dairy ice cream with this?

So far I've only made one batch of sorbet. It went fairly well. The directions weren't the greatest so it kind of went all over the place, but we did get something edible. I thought we received good value and I hope it continues to work well.

Love it. Simple to use. Few ingredients required, lots of flavor options. Makes ice cream in 20 minutes. I keep container in freezer so it’s ready to use when I want fresh sugar-controlled ice cream. I make a batch, clean container and make another then clean and store in freezer. Noise during churning is minimal vs. other reviews I read.

Quiet ice cream maker gets quite cold in freezer

Super easy to use, and quiet enough to use and not disturb anyone else. The ice cream bowl does get VERY cold in my freezer, and I was able to make TWO batches with one freeze. Another thing I notice is that the texture of non-dairy ice cream is not as smooth as I would like, but I think that will improve will experience. Overall, this is a great ice-cream maker, especially for the money, and I recommend it!

I thoroughly enjoy having my 3 precious grandchildren come to my home to visit. I plan fun things for us to do-- so I decided to order an ice cream maker. Well, you should have seen the smiles on my grandchildrens faces as we mixed the ingredients for strawberry ice cream... however the smiles as they tasted the ice cream were the biggest I've ever seen !! Thank you very much for helping us make some wonderful memories..

I make too much ice cream now!

Cuisinart’s ice cream makers are by far the best on the market! I love mine so much that I’ve collected three of them for all the ice cream that I want to churn at the same time. The freezer bowls are so convenient to use, and if I wash them quickly and get them back in the freezer, they’re frozen solid again the next day. I haven’t bought any ice cream from the store since I got my first ice cream maker because the difference in quality is astounding. I make lots of ice cream to give away as gifts, and I’ve tried my fair share of other brands. Cuisinart is the winner every time!

If you like soft serve cream you’ll like it. I was disappointed in the texture, but I realize you can use different ingredients- I just decided I ultimately would rather hard a more solid ice cream product and returned the maker.

I was replacing an older machine which no longer worked that required ice and salt. Although this product is much easier, the older one was more interactive with children. The ice cream itself was delicious and a perfect texture.

Much Better Than Expected

Being familiar only with homemade ice cream made in an old fashioned churn involving ice and salt and paying attention I had my doubts about this seemingly simple concept. I must admit I am impressed. The recipes are simple, the preparation time is minimal, and the quantity of ice cream generated is perfect for about four people. Also the appliance is easy to clean and care for. My one negative concern is the lack of a lid for protecting the bucket while it is being stored in the freezer. Otherwise an excellent investment so far.

Great machine, flimsy paddle

Solid machine! However, the paddle part of the machine can be flimsy and at first it wasnt clear how to use and it broke because I poured the mixture before placing the paddle which caused the paddle to not sit correctly. This caused it to immediately snap. The guarentee gives you free parts in case a problem like this occurs.

I bought this Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker to replace another Ice Cream Maker. I wasn’t disappointed. This ice cream maker is sturdy and foolproof. I make ice cream regularly to control the ingredients and I know exactly what I’m getting. Being diabetic my levels have remained steady in the lower numbers.
