Great, messy, time-consuming kit for a 7.5 year old, but add me to the list of those who didn’t receive all the gems. Kid was okay about it, but we still requested a refund. Unfortunate.

My 4yo and I spent hours working on this to find no gems in the entire rock. We were very disappointed and this was a complete waste of money.
Patience...

Not sure if we got all the gems because my daughter didn’t want to break apart the smaller mini dig. She’s 4 so she didn’t have the patience to find all the stones herself. 😅 but she begged for me to get it for months…I end up doing all the gem findings and it was enjoyable.
Dont waste your time or money

My 7 year old was so excited for this and spent over an hour trying to find the 12 gems it says it “includes”, not only did he waste his time but it made a big mess only to find out there wasn’t any gems at all!!

We smashed this to a wet pulp and found NO GEMS in the main activity. The tiny bonus piece had 1 gem so we had a size reference-no way we missed them. This is a waste of time and a big disappointment. There were tears.
No gems! :(

It's pretty and will occupy some time. There are not as many gems ad advertised, we didn't get all that were shown (missing citrine & lazurite). This made a big mess.

I bought this for my 6 year old for Christmas. She said it was her favorite gift, and she even received a VERY pricey ride on unicorn from “Santa”, but this had her attention all of Christmas Day until it was finished. Yes, it’s messy, but who cares if your child is excited about learning? It’s literally just plaster of Paris, which cleans up with water. We put down butcher paper and were able to move it when she took breaks. The kit had every piece it was supposed to and there was a sheet that had info about each gem we found. This would also be a great outdoor activity in warmer weather. She liked it so much I’m looking for similar kits so she can dig up some different treasures. Some people said they didn’t get all the gems, but some were smallish (because obviously big ones would be expensive), so if you were breaking off large chunks without being thorough, you could conceivably miss some. Sidenote: The adults also had fun taking turns with this.

Very messy (after soaking in water as directed). There were only 11 gems, not 13 as advertised. We squished every last little piece and there were no more stones.

There were only 10-I resorted to pouring water all over it and crumbling with my hands to make sure, but yes-only 10. This, for a 30 year old, took too long. It would be better if the rock wasn’t quite as large or the structure wasn’t so difficult to break up, but my child is very strong and had issues being able to even hammer it away.
Good but takes time

So cool but it takes some patience. Our five year old worked on it for 15 minutes and didn’t get very far. We ended up finishing it. It’s cute, but it takes patience.

Kept my son occupied for a few hours and he was excited each time he found a gem! Would definitely recommend! Gems were small but I wasn’t expecting them to be that large anyway. Cool way to review spent with the kids. Love it!

Do not recommend while it kept my son busy for a bit the large piece only had 6 stones when it was supposed to have 12! We put gloves on and smooshed every piece of it and there were no more! He was definitely disappointed!
