    I bought our machine about a month ago and the sensors require a clean very very frequently. It is a pain to have to do them so frequently especially when they are not dirty and nothing is on the cleaning cloth. Also when you have another scheduled clean later in the day and the sensors require cleaning after the first scheduled clean of the day and you are away from home the second clean wont go ahead. You should be able to manually override the warning.

    The vacuum itself is awesome. The best suction and cleaning of any vacuum I own. It draws up very fine dust out of the cracks of an old hard wood floor without the filter being clogged right away. It did take a week for the house to be clean enough that I didn't have to empty the bin mid cycle. The down side - the navigation kind of sucks, it keeps going in places it has been banned from unless I mark off half the room. It gets stuck on vents at least once per cycle even though they are on the no go list. It will also get lost if the dogs panic and run over or past it, just seems to break its brain. The map is kind of pointless since is can't find its way home most days. The mapping its self is an all day thing to get a clean map that has all the rooms on it. It is very frustrating to spend an hour or two babysitting the robot to find out it missed two rooms. Normally it takes five tries to get it. All and all worth having if you have time to babysit it while it runs. If you are dusting and cleaning and watching it, it does cut cleaning time in half. If you want it to run while at work it probably won't work for you. To give context I live in a 160 year old house with all solid surface floors, about 1000sft living space on the floor it runs, 3 people and 3 dogs

    Robot vacuum works OK but can't dock itself.

    Robot vacuum is mediocre and frustrating. I've had the Dyson Vis Nav for about 3 weeks, and it hasn't been able to successfully return to the dock once. That's frustrating because I feel like I have to run the vac while I'm home so I can return it to the doc afterwards; so I can't avoid the noise or schedule it to go on it's own without being worried about it. It usually winds up near the doc, but never on it. Sometimes it "gives up" and waits, but often it seems to simply crawl around looking for it. It also means I can't set it to clean the whole floor because it will run out of charge and can't mind itself. Ugh. Debating returning it. Going through online help articles are useless (the dock is set up correctly) and many people have similar complaints. Suction is good. It generally cleans up after our cats (who leave small particles of litter around) and the vac gets their shed fur without problem. Mapping is OK though not totally precise which means boundaries and "restricted" zones don't work as well as they could. Dust bin is small so I feel I have to empty it after every cleaning.

    I got this a month ago. At first I didn’t like it. It was confused and getting stuck on the air vents but then it learned or updated and hasn’t been stuck for about 3 weeks. I also had an issue with it returning home and then I guess the pattern wasn’t put the correct way that it reads to return to its home base. I noticed it when looking at the pictures and I thought I was going crazy! But after it matched the pictures it’s returned home 100% of the time. The suction is superior. I checked with a v15 detect and basically not a crumb left. App is pretty easy to use. I pick what rooms I want it to clean. I came from a roomba that left dog hair and stuff behind. It also didn’t self empty half the time so I don’t think it’s too much work to empty it once a week. Plus there isn’t a base to maintain or troubleshoot. I’m also very happy it doesn’t have any bags, filters, or brushes that I need to replace every few months or sooner. The filter is washable. Similar spiny brush as my v15 so it’s pretty high quality. I had read some bad reviews before buying so I thought a lot before making the purchase and decided to go for it after watching some YouTube videos saying since the new updates it’s been great. Pretty low maintenance. My mom ended up ordering it as well and also loves hers and doesn’t have issues. It honestly saves me a lot of time. Sometimes it has issues and goes home early (rare) but I rarely babysit it. It also doesn’t bang or hit furniture or the walls so that’s nice. I like that it has a 3 year warranty as well. I mean it’s not 100% perfect but I’m happy I no longer have to vacuum because it does such a good job. With the roomba I still had to 2-3x a week because I have animals. I would say this could 100% be a vacuum replacement. Obviously I would still recommend having a vacuum though. Again I’m really happy I don’t have to buy replacement filters, brushes, or bags.

    Disappointing Machine

I do like that the vacuum has a full sized brush, however, more bristles rather than the carbon fiber mat on the roller would probably work better, The vacuum cleans hard floors well and doesn't do a great job on carpet. I have 2 dogs and I'm amazed at how little hair the robot will pick up unless I clean the same room twice or more. The mapping capability of the robot is good, although the zoning and restriction portion of this could be much better if one could draw single lines rather than being forced to use a square or rectangle. It would also be nice if the map could be enlarged as it is difficult to get the zone lines in the right place. My biggest issue with the robot is that it powers down in the middle of a run for no reason. The vacuum is not one that you can expect to do a cleaning of your whole house without being present, as more than likely, it will power down and have cleaned only a small area. So constant baby-sitting is a necessity. I have one room in my house that it has yet to clean without the robot being started from scratch 3 times. I have watched video after video trying to understand the issues with this robot and have extended my vocabulary in cussing it's inadequacies. I realize there is a lot of technology in this machine, but it's performance is definitely not worth the price.

    I bought a while back and am using it on a routine basis, however I've found that after multiple attempts at remapping my house it still never quite accurately covers all the areas. I also find that the vacuum tends to require a lot of maintenance in order to function optimally, such as clearing objects that aren't obstructing the airways. I would also like the ability to set up more zones, and or to check the exact charge levels as a percentage using the app

    Not Ready for the General Market

    The frustration is often worth it, but when it’s not… it’s really not. Pro: Cleaning hardware is fantastic. The brush and suction power are clearly superior to anything else on the market. Cons: Mapping is inconsistent. I map our home with zero variance in my home layout or potential obstacles, yet each new map varies in such a high degree it blows my mind. The product regularly cannot return to its dock, and I receive alerts telling me the product is stuck and can’t escape its doom loop of trying to return home. The product is “self-damaging”, in that it enters enclosed spaces that scratch the camera lens atop the product, and scrapes against walls (and my cherished floor-standing speakers), causing scratches on the product and wall paint to adhere to the enclosure. The app is quite poor in its control capabilities, as one cannot add rooms to a cleaning schedule mid-clean, nor can you select specific spots for the product to clean. Silver lining: I have great faith in Dyson and its engineers. I purchased this product after purchasing several other Dyson vacuums and countless air purifiers (and even their hair care cosmetic products) — all of which I love. I believe the hardware is excellent, and with proper software, it can be an excellent product. I hope the teams at Dyson are working on the issues I outlined, but I would not currently recommend this product until these basic issues are resolved. Also, please offer the product in other colorways. I really don’t like the current offering and would love a subtler black or white option.

    Navigation needs work

    Love the powerful suction, much better than previous robotic systems. The navigation system is its weak point. It just goes all over the place as it wonders blindly around. We have a large rug that shows the cleaning patterns. It also shows the portions that have not been cleaned. The app always shows the rug to be fully cleaned. It also gets confused every time on its way to the charging dock. Frequently just giving up. Very frustrating!!

    Great cleaning but navigation and battery are poor

    While the suction and cleaning performance of the vacuum was excellent, the navigation system is absolutely horrible. Constantly could not find rooms that were literally 10 feet from the base station. If your rooms are dim, the robot almost always gets lost especially under beds. Had a lot of difficulty finding the base station. I know this is a huge flaw with camera navigation so hopefully Dyson will include LIDAR in the next model.
