I've always used a mixture of either Mrs. Meyers, or Mrs. Meyers and 1/4 cup bleach (never bleaches my carpet, only santizes it) and I've used even laudry soap and bleach (small amounts of each) and have had exceptional results. I think they want you to use the Hoover brand cleaners for obvious reasons, but I've always used other methods when I ran out of the cleaner that comes with the machine. If your uneasy about the bleach mixture try a little on a small patch first. But I've always put about a 1/4 cup in my full water tank to sanitize my carpet. Love it.

Title: Hoover Smart Wash - A Total Disappointment! Rating: 1/5 stars I'm extremely disappointed with my brand new Hoover Smart Wash. I took it out of the box, followed the instructions, and attempted to use it just once. Unfortunately, it didn't work at all. No water came out, and the machine didn't seem to be functioning properly. I was expecting a high-quality product, but this thing didn't even get the job done once. Given its poor performance right out of the box, I'm concerned about the build quality and durability of this product. As a brand new purchase, I expected it to work flawlessly, but it seems like I got a dud. I'm not sure if it's a manufacturing defect or a design flaw, but either way, I'm not impressed. The fact that it didn't work even once is frustrating, and I'm now left wondering if I should return it or try to get a replacement. If you're considering purchasing the Hoover Smart Wash, I'd advise you to think twice and maybe look into other options. Until Hoover proves otherwise, I'd say avoid this product. Maybe it's just a one-off issue, but based on my experience, I wouldn't take the risk.

I have had my hoover for a few years and now all of a sudden the hose on it has a hole in it and it no longer sucks up the water it spews out onto my carpet so now I just have a disgusting carpet and hoover does not have online where you can purchase another hose attachment. I am more disappointed than anything especially after paying what I did.

The first few times it worked great. Then the plastic parts don't hold up well. They break and crack and don't fit together to suction up the dirty water. I spent more time trying to fix it than cleaning carpet with it. Disappointing

First time use. I'm giving this carpet cleaner it 3 stars in hope that Hoover support will eventually contact me. The brushes are not rotating. I tried Hoover's suggestions and no luck. Hoover help site says to contact Hoover to chat if their suggestions do not work. That is a dead end. I'm very frustrated.

The brush cover keeps coming off. You will spend more time re-attaching than you will actually cleaning the carpet. The dirty water tank does not hold much so be ready to keep having to dump constantly. I wish that I had gone with a different carpet cleaner.

Waste of money. The solution container leaks carpet cleaning solution straight out the overflow hole down onto the floor. It empties the entire container in less than three minutes. Useless!!

In the moment it’s a 5! When I saw the wet vac on sale, I snagged it as a present to myself. The assembly was easy and straightforward - my teen did it! After a vacuum we cleaned two carpets. The vacuum is lightweight despite the water tanks. Pushing forward is washing and back is drying. Once we were satisfied with the washing, a dry only button was available for another pass. We turned on the overhead fans for quicker drying. Overall it was damp but not soaked. The water tank was … gross! We definitely removed a lot of dirt from shoes and animals. When the dirty water was filled to the max we noticed the wash feature stalled until we emptied it. Clean up was simple, both the tanks and brush area. We definitely captured a lot of dog hair because vacuuming can only do so much. More rugs to wash and looking forward to using the hose attachment to clean our couch. Just got my bottle of cleaner - the equipment only came with a small bottle to get you started.

I love all of the highlights of this product. It was easy to set up, use, and clean after I finished cleaning my carpets. Just make sure everything is snapped in tight or it won’t work correctly. I would definitely recommend this product. It did a great job! It is worth the money. I was fortunate to get it on sale for $199.99 at target.

Hello good afternoon, it's been two months since I took my machine for repair, as it is under warranty and I still haven't received a response. I bought the machine less than a year ago and it has already failed. I took it for repair two months ago and I no longer have the machine. It's a terrible deal. I had to buy another brand to have it. I had a problem with a Shark item. In 3 days they sent me a new product to my house, and you guys have been waiting 2 months and it hasn't solved anything.
