This made my hair feel like straw. I was thinking this would be like their frizz ease shampoo but it was just so drying that the color payoff wasn’t worth it. It will stain your water brown as well so watch out for puddling in the shower.

Visibly Deeper is no competition for Multi-Tone. Multi-Tone make my hair sleek and beautiful, Visibly Deeper not so much. I will continue to use Multi-Tone till I cannot get it anymore.

To be clear, Brilliant Brunette and Midnight Brunette are both currently available and two different products. I think that there is a link or SKU issue, so if you are looking for Brilliant Brunette, keep looking. Per the John Frieda website, the difference is that this is a color depositing shampoo and Brilliant Brunette is not. I was looking for color depositing as I transition to grey, and this didn't work for me. I wasn't looking to cover or mask grey, but just blend the semi permanent medium ash brown that faded. This didn't work. Hair color is tricky and science based so this may work for you.

My hair is very picky and I tried literally all shampoos available on market, including very expansive ones. The original Brilliant Brunette was my favorite shampoo and the only one that worked well with my hair from roots to ends and I used it for years. Unfortunately, the formula change to Midnight Brunette is not good at all. My scalp became very flaky and itchy; the ends are super dry. I understand that moving towards "paraben free" is a modern marketing move, but now I am stuck again with no idea what to do with my hair. Dear team of John Frieda - if you have any leftover stock of the old formula - I will buy it all! But for now - two stars for the updated version.

Bought this for my daughter after her hair was dyed and it came out a little brassy. She says she doesn't notice a big difference except that it seems a bit drying.

If you go to the salon when your low lights get super blonde, and perfect a darker highlight this is the best. I haven’t had time to make it in and my stylist recommended this. Not only does it smell great but it looked too great after one use! I left it on for 5 minutes and washed out after.

Leaves grown out roots with a tinted brown and it removes the brassiness from my baby lights. I was wanting to dye my roots because my natural hair color was a really dark almost black and this really helped it have some life to it. So instead of going to the salon to get my hair toned i am using this not the same results but for the price and being on a budget it works for me LOVE IT!
