Really fun activity for kids. Once you read the directions it’s really easy. The coloring of the corals is a bit tedious, we used our own larger markers instead of the ones included in the kit. Make sure you get the solution on the edges of the coral. Corals bloom super fast and look cool, but are very fragile.

This is so neat! It was super easy to assemble and it starts sprouting in about thirty minutes. It did take a while to color the reef parts with the markers but the color payoff is worth it! This is a great little project to do to get your kids interested in reefs!
Super fun

My kids had such a blast doing this project . Such a fun learning experience . Not only were they able to grow the actual crystals but they have learning packets that talk about a bunch of fun stuff. Would recommend 10/10
Fun project; markers could be better

This was a very fun kit! The paper coral forms were easy to put together. We ended up using different markers because the ones included (hence the 4 stars) were just too small and not saturated enough. My 7yo and I collaborated on the coloring, and we produced some really interesting crystals!
Cool!

This is really cool and a great STEM toy. You can make up to six items! My 8yo son loved it. It just takes a few minutes to start seeing results, so it isn’t a big wait and see kind of thing. Instant satisfaction! You can choose which colors you use as well. Just be prepared it does get a bit messy.

My kids love this Crystal Reef kit. The instructions are really easy. The kids followed the instructions on their own and did this without an adult having to help them. They loved how the crystals turned out. Great educational way to keep the kids occupied.

The Crystal Reef science kit is a good activity for kids. They enjoyed coloring the reefs. Their only complaint was the markers that it comes with they do not work very well, so it takes longer to color. They enjoyed seeing the final project when the crystals formed.

Fun activity with a few different ways to be involved. There’s many different pieces that need to be colored, with different color options. Then the pouring of the crystal growing liquid. It does grow within 5 hours. But it falls off the pieces and only the blue really makes the color appear in the crystal.
So much fun!!

This was a really fun project for my 7 and 10 year olds. You start out my coloring your reefs. The markers could be a little higher quality but worked fine for this project. After coloring your place the reefs in a tray. My husband had to maneuver some of them to fit in the slots but it eventually worked. Finally you add the solution and wait for your crystals to grow. My children enjoyed watching the reefs as the crystals grew over several hours. Overall this is a fun kit that will keep your children entertained for a few hours!!

Awesome arts and crafts kit to keep kids busy during the cold and rainy season. This comes with three different liquids to make the crystals, a lot of colors of markers, and pretty clear instructions. Looks like it will be a good Christmas gift for my 7 year old!
The end result is pretty neat! The process is just okay.

Although the suggested minimum age is 8, I did this with my 6 year old. We had a good time coloring, but it was a little underwhelming at first since you have to wait up to 8 hours to see it change. Some of our markers were dried out. That was a bit frustrating because we do not have any other watercolor markers on-hand. Once they formed, the crystals were definitely cool.

My son enjoyed it. He felt the directions were easy to follow. I didn't help him at all. He enjoyed putting it together and watching the crystals grow. The only complaint he had was the markers drie out pretty quickly.
Grows so fast, super cool!

This crystal reef kit was very fun for my kids! It was super cool because the crystals started growing super quickly and was fully grown the same day. The kids loved running into the kitchen all day to see how much they had grown. One thing that was frustrating is the markers worked for only two of the corals, some markers were completely dry right when we opened the box. We used crayola markers and they still worked great, they actually worked better than the ones in the kit when they all grew. They are quite messy when they are fully grown, the crystals fall off everywhere but overall super cool activity and everyone enjoyed it

I thought this would be a good idea and great for my twins. This is not the corals do not fit together. You had to cut some of them. They make an absolute huge mess because the corals are too big over the plastic tray so the solution goes everywhere once the corals grow they fall off Because the corals once again are too big for the plastic tray. They made a huge mess and the coral is not hard like a crystal, which I thought it would be like hard salt. It is so soft the second you touch it. It melts away so you cannot move these. There are not enough markers in here and you needed more markers.
Actually worked!!

This is the first set we’ve gotten that actually grew something. The one negative thing I found was the markers did not work very well. They ran out of color pretty quickly. It took a few hours for the crystals to form. We started around 8 PM and by 6 AM the following morning they had many crystals on each. The crystals are very soft and extremely easy to come off so be careful when you’re trying to move it.
Very cool project that my kids learned from

Overall this is a really fun project. It’s not too complicated and my kids had fun choosing between the 4 different corals. We made them before going to bed and when we woke up the next morning, the corals had grown. Taking off 1 star because 2 of the markers didn’t work and the coral is EXTREMELY fragile. Pieces broke off all over my counter just with a slight touch.
Pretty cool And easy to do

The National Geographic Crystal Reef growing kit is the perfect thing for inquisitive kids. The kit comes with everything you need, I think you need to have adult supervision, But it’s a pretty simple and fun thing to do so don’t overthink it Overall, I think this is a pretty cool activity for your kids
