I bought this specifically to target bittercress in fescue. It had zero effect on bittercress.

Crabgrass problems

The front cover of the gallon WeedClear clearly shows crabgrass as one of the types to be killed. However, reviews, instructions, and on-line writeups say that crabgrass is not affected. Who is lying? I purchased it primarily for crabgrass. (I will save it and try it in the spring when the crabgrass is just starting to spout.)

Weeds are just as healthy and thriving three weeks after I sprayed them as they were before I sprayed them.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho Weed B-Gon Lawn Weed Killer and appreciate your feedback. If it rained or the area was watered within an hour of the application the product can be washed off the weed surface. Allow 12 hours after application before watering lawn for maximum effectiveness on listed weeds. This product take 2-4 weeks to completely kill weeds. Temperatures below 65°F or above 90°F may cause weeds to be dormant. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 866-324-9192 if we can further assist.
Provided great control over weeds in the new lawn

Planted new grass around new patio project. Waiting for grass to grow, the weeds took over. After letting things get out of hand, We sprayed twice with the hose connection version and the weeds were almost gone. I thought we were doomed to deal with the buttonleaf, clover, ragweed, velvet leaf, thistle and host of other weeds. But it kept them at bay and allowed the grass to overtake the bare spots and thicken. I would recommend this to anyone trying to control weeds in their lawn areas.
Don't purchase if you have Spotted spurge

I purchased this product to stop the Spotted spurge in my yard. The Spotted spurge has increased and this didn't do a thing. Sprayed as directed under 90 degrees outside, no rain, it has been a week and nothing. I am finished with Ortho, the website even states it will control Spotted spurge but that is not true. The dandelions have withered, only reason I'm giving it 2 stars.

This is useless. I bought it a local hardware store and sprayed it on multiple weeds (lots of clover). Most of the weeds didn’t wilt one bit. What a waste of my time and money.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho Weed B-Gon Lawn Weed Killer and appreciate your feedback. Allow 12 hours after application before watering lawn for maximum effectiveness on listed weeds. This product take 2-4 weeks to completely kill weeds. It does not kill grassy type weeds, such as crabgrass. Temperatures below 65°F or above 90°F may cause weeds to be dormant. Drought stressed plants can not readily absorb the herbicide. Mowing 2 days before or after application reduces leaf surface and plant's ability to absorb the herbicide. We want you to be confident in our products. This product is practically useless. The sprayer nozzle only allows a small amount of material to be applied by drops rather than a spray. It is even difficult to spray an individual dandelion while standing directly above it. You can not get a sweeping spray. Total waste of money

I bought 2 bottles of this and it is very weak weed killer. It just didn't work. I'm going to revert back to the competition that must use stronger chemicals. On a plus side, the wand was easy and powerful.

I had some clover and crab weed. I picked this product because it says it was safe for Fescue grass. I bought it in August and followed every instruction. It killed everything. I have pictures to prove it. I thought at first that it was temporary but is October and my grass has still not come back but the clover and crab weed has. I paid a lot of money to have new grass less than a year ago. I am extremely dissatisfied. Now I have to pay again for seeds and new treatments. You should pay for that.

DO NOT use this product on southern grasses, the label claims it is safe for st. Augustine and Bermuda grasses and that isn't true. I've used the product on northern grasses with good results but one application WIPED OUT my front lawn of St. Augustine grass. Beware!!

Maybe user error?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since it was my first time using this product I will chalk up the 3 star rating to potential inexperience with the product. After following the dilution instructions and applying it to the clovers and other weeds, I can only see about 50% effectiveness. There are areas where it looks like the weeds are dying off and other spots where nothing seems to be happening. These observations were taken after 5 weeks. Maybe the ratio was off in my mixture. Probably won’t repurchase as there are other products that are out there ready to spray without all the mixing necessary. However more experienced lawn and gardeners may find more value as the product looks like it will last a long time

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho WeedClear Weed Killer for Lawns and appreciate your feedback. We recommend watering the weeds first as drought stressed plants cannot readily absorb the herbicide. When leaves are dry, spray again. Temperatures below 60 degrees or above 90 degrees may cause weeds to be dormant. Cold nights may delay weed death as well. You may apply a second application after 30 days has passed. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho WeedClear Weed Killer for Lawns Ready-to-Use and appreciate your feedback. If most of the product has been used, most likely the siphon tube is pointing in the wrong direction. For regular trigger sprayers (24 and 32 oz), simply turn cap/base of sprayer 180 degrees. For the nested sprayers, remove the cap and turn 180 degrees then replace the cap. The siphon tube should now be pointing towards the front of the bottle. Hold the container at a forward angle when spraying to ensure that the product can be easily siphoned from the container. Product may have crystallized in the sprayer tip, soak the nozzle in warm water for 10-15 minutes, this should dislodge any residue in the tip. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 866-324-9192 if we can further assist.
