I was looking for an improvement over the standard metal strainers, these are not an improvment. My main complaint is that they don't drain well, they clog up very quickly, much faster than the normal metal ones do. I think they clog because the catch area is too small. The plastic part gets slimy as well. I have put them in the dishwasher and that doesn't seem to clean them at all, so they just have to be washed by hand.

we've never had any issues with this. it plugs our drain perfectly; the water stays at the exact same level for hours. it stops way more from going down our drain than a traditional stop does. it's a real pain to clean the underside but it's worth it for the plug function.

Maybe it's just me but this modern design is not impressive. My time to review will be passed before I can review durability. I personally don't think it will hold up to the test of time.

It’s a little too expensive for the material. Silicone is a little icky. Also a bit tricky in terms of stopping or allowing the water to flow.

If you don't get this gadget placed in the exact right spot, it WILL NOT HOLD WATER. I bought it to use as a catch-all for when I'm preparing food / cutting veggies / etc. I also wanted to use it to hold a sink full of water (to wash dishes, let items soak). I can't tell you how many times I've walked off from a sink full of hot water, just to return to an empty sink. Ugh. Its so aggravating. I would not personally recommend.

The plastic screw at the top of this Oxo brand broke-off in less than two weeks. My old standard metal stopper with rubber gasket has lasted 29 years. Only the plastic gasket has split on the old faithful.

I’ve never purchased a bad Oxo product but there’s a first time for everything. Strike 1: it’s difficult to clean the strainer completely Strike 2: as a strainer, it leaves water pooled in the sink after draining Strike 3: the stopper does not work. At all.
