Is this collar compatible with any wired in ground transmitter? I had wired system farmer chewed up the line. Got the wireless system and the transmitter died. I love the collars. Love them. Zero issues, but i wanna go back to a wired system because it covers more area. Is there a trasmitter for a wired system compatible with this collar? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for asking about this! We're so sorry to hear you had difficulty with your initial wire and with your transmitter, but we're very glad to hear these systems have also worked well for you and certainly want to see how we can help. These are wireless system collars, and they do work completely differently from wired systems and are not compatible. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. So that we can speak with you directly about your situation and determine the best way to move forward to form a layout that works for you and your dogs, please reach out to our Customer Care team here- https://support.petsafe.net/contact-us/ Our phone hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. We have had this system for over a year. Our dog Buddy 93 % Pyrenees respected the collar pretty well, them not so much. It was recommended we purchase the Stubborn Dog collar. Things have gone pretty well until recently. We have had a number of close calls when he escapes. My fence installer said there is a collar that goes up to a 10 setting instead of just 5. Is there such a thing. HELP !

Problems with collar

I have this system and bought an extra collar since I have two dogs. I bought them at the same time. One collar has always been noticeably different than the other. One can last about a month before it needs recharged. The other lasted a week or less. Now, it won’t charge at all!! I have tried all the suggested actions to test it (I have 3 different cords, used different outlets…and the other collar charges fine with all 3 of the different cords). I cannot afford to purchase a new collar, as this system was very spendy to begin with. But I live on a busy road and am fearful. Very disappointed!!
Great to have

Have had this for my German shepherd for 2 years now. The only problem is if the power goes out, the collar begins to beep and shocks him continuously., even if he’s on our enclosed back porch near the transmitter. Sometimes he escapes our back porch and covered dog lot area while we are not home/work. However, We can’t put this collar on him when we are not home because we live near the coast/water with pop up storms/wind causing temporary power outages. He now fears this collar. Overall it’s good if we are home. Completely waterproof as he enjoys swimming. But do not use when not at home.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and concerns with us! We're so sorry that you and your dog have had this experience, but we can certainly explain why this would occur. Wireless collars activate when they lose signal. If the power goes out or the transmitter is turned off, the collar has no way of knowing the signal loss is not due to your dog leaving the boundary, so it will activate accordingly. For this reason, we do recommend the use of backup batteries with this system, as well as to always remove collars indoors. For any form of fencing system, collars should only be used when dogs can be observed. We do apologize for any misunderstanding. Please know, however, that even should the collar activate for power loss, it will 'time out' after 15 seconds, and would not activate again unless it picked up signal then lost it again. It is important to mention, too, that the transmitter does need to be in a fully indoor, climate controlled location, so if it is located on your back porch we would recommend relocating it to an indoor area for longevity of your transmitter.

We’ve used this collar for a number of years, worked fine on a small Lab. We have a Great Dane now and she just runs right past the border, even on the highest setting. Once she’s completely out of range, it’s not even an annoyance. I’m thinking about going for the buried wire electronic fence. The settings on those go up to a 7. These will only go up to a 5. Ineffective for a large powerful dog.

We're so sorry to hear your pup is not responding to their collar. Oftentimes, this may be due to a fit issue or a refresher in training is needed. We would love the opportunity to discuss this with you further and help determine the best solution for you both! Please reach out to us at 1-866-738-4379.

Bought this a month ago on line new. It seems like a good option for some dogs, with good vision & Hearing. My English springer is 14 yes, with vision and hearing issues. In his younger years he was fully trained to obey verbal and hand signal commands. The collar receiver for this unit has very faint sound (beep) correction and NO vibration alert.. Because of his visual and audio challenges I feel he needs a collar with a Vibration mode. Training using the flags is not going well and he appears to not hear the beep (warning) signal thus only the shock. This is not going well. Not recommended fr dogs with these challenges.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Kristie! It's wonderful to know this collar has worked well for you and your dog. Please know that though it is common for tones not to be heard by customers as they are very high pitched, it is very unusual for a collar to lose tone. Should this ever happen again, please get in touch with us so we can troubleshoot with you! Our number is 1-800-732-2677, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. EST.

We have a large Golden Retriever that had learned to run through the regular collar that came with the system. The stubborn dog collar works! He had been chasing after us when we leave and visiting the neighbors. No more. He stays well within the boundary now. We are impressed.

I have had the same wireless system for 8 years with no problems and the collars work great also. I have had to replace the collars twice since purchasing the system but is more due to my pack chewing them on each other lol -getting ready to order two more. Love this system and I have 6 dogs that hop a 5 feet fence without them - now they stay back from the perimeter!

We were having so much trouble with our puppy going to close to the road. We have an older dog, which has been on the wireless fence for a couple of years. The regular collar that we bought for our existing system did not help with the puppy's urge to go too close to the road. Order the Stubborn Dog Stay collar and we couldn't be happier. He received a shock once and hasn't tried to go pass the flags near the road.
Still a stubborn dog
