A: This was a gift, simple to use but would prefer a top filled tank. I ran on low setting over night and floor around unit is really wet. I have laminate wood floor and pretty sure this is not good.

A: Hi, Tap water can be used for the Hume XL Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier but if you live in a hard water area, we recommend using distilled water to avoid mineral buildup. A: Hi pmf, The HumeXL Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier is designed for humidifying only – please do not use essential oils, Vicks, perfumes, or substances other than water in your humidifier. These substances are corrosive to your humidifier and will cause cracking and leaking. Its recommended that you place your humidifier on a firm, flat level surface for best use and results. We needed a large capacity humidifier and when we found this we were thrilled. Sleek, super quiet, easy to fill. The led light is just bright enough and user controls are right at your fingertips. Audible confirmation on the control panel is really cool too. A full tank lasts about 3 days. Output spouts can be moved for a 70/30 split or combined for full strength. Overall, very happy with this model.

I purchased the HumeXL on whim while shopping at a local store. I was in the market for a humidifier for health reasons and decided to give this brand a chance. OMG!!! I love it!! Not only could I control the amount of mist that was released but I could adjust the directions! Oh and there is a sleep mode so it is super quiet, you never know it is on. I would highly recommend this unit.

Dislike: #1. ALL the buttons are very hard to see as they are the same color as the background (black) with NO minor lightening at all. #2. When the water tank is empty, there's no indicator for this. It just shuts off. #3. No major difference in the low/high settings.

Very quiet and does the job efficiently. My only complaint is that it is very difficult to refill the water. The design requires filling from the bottom which requires removing it from the base. It is dripping and very heavy when refilled. I would have given 5 stars if I could refill it from the top.

After about 15 months of constant use, our humidifier developed a small leak. I called customer service and they gave me a few options for determining the cause. They were extremely helpful and are in the process of shipping us a replacement. Great product and great company!
