Description

Don't let your lawn succumb to harsh summertime or drought conditions. Scotts Turf Builder Summer Lawn Food is a fertilizer that builds strong, deep roots and greens grass with up to 50% less water (vs. unfed turf maintained using university guidelines for weekly volume water replacement for established turf. When used as directed, greening effects last up to 6 weeks; results will vary due to temperature and turf type). This 2-in-1 lawn fertilizer plus water maximizer is powered by Everydrop Technology, a wetting agent which helps drives water into hard, dry soil. Scotts Turf Builder Summer Lawn Food can be used on any grass type. Apply to a dry lawn in the summertime or in drought conditions. We recommend using a Scotts spreader to apply this product. For Scotts broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 4. For Scotts drop spreaders, use a setting of 9.5. For Scotts Wizz, use a setting of 4.25. Water to activate after application. One 9.42 lb. bag of Scotts Turf Builder Summer Lawn Food covers 4,000 sq. ft.

This product burnt 1/4 of my lawn. I work hard to have a beautiful lawn and Scott’s trashed it. I had to spend more money and time to get it back to normal. Photos below show my burnt lawn and after spending money and time to fix it.

We are terribly sorry that your lawn experienced damage after using Scotts Turf Builder Summer Lawn Food. When used as directed this product should not damage lawns. This product can cause lawn damage if over applied. Often times disease, insects or environmental problems like drought and extreme heat, may be suspected as product damage, you may want to evaluate if there are possible other causes of the issues they are noticing. If over application is suspected, we recommend following a watering program of 1/2 to 1 inch of water per week for at least 3 weeks. Most lawns will recover with time. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please contact us and refer to your review to see what can be done. We can be reached at 888-270-3714.

We joined the Scotts program a few weeks ago. We had a professional service costing way too much per year. We tried the Max Green. Couple of months ago and within a few days our grass was really green. We received our first delivery of the Scotts program for this time of year. It was true summer turf builder. We had a storm two days later. We lightly watered it in two days in a row then the storm came. We were afraid it had washed the product away. Low and behold three days later it is amazing how beautiful our lawn is. It is lush, dark green Bermuda. We live in north Alabama and the soil is hard clay. We are so glad we dropped the so called professionals that fly through the yard and we didn’t see the results we have from the Scotts program. We highly recommend this program. They send it to you at the right time to put it down.

I saw a review here but i was like i did not have any issue with the other products. Please let me know if my lawn will recover - I followed the APPs instructions - was the lawn over fertilized if so they need to update the Application. I am really not a lawn person so i followed the APP like a child. Please Help. Thanks.

Significant Improvement in Grass Seen Within 4 Day

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My lawn looks exceptional! This is such a quality product! Just follow the directions and you will be fine! I just put it in one of those hand spreaders and do it. I did measure each section of my yard to get Sq. Ft., so I would know how much to put in each section. Sometimes, I just throw it out by hand. Bottom line, don't be so concerned about overdoing it. Just do it and your grass will love you for it.

Appears to Have Burned My Lawn

I am a Long Time Scott’s Product user with great success on my St Augustine lawn in Tampa Florida. However, about a month ago after receiving information ads about this Turf Builder product which I had not previously seen, I purchased it and applied following directions using my Scott’s spreader. Unfortunately I now see fairly large brown patches along the walkway to my front door, several patches along the edges of the lawn by the street, and a couple of fairly large brown patches in the center of the lawn. Looks like I need to go back to my previous “Weed n Feed” which has previously “Worked Like a Charm!” Needless to say I’m quite disappointed.

I've been a Scotts lawn care user for years with great results. I'm in Central Florida with sandy soil, St. Augustine grass, and lots of summer rain. Back in Feb of this year I applied Scotts Bonus Southern Weed and Feed with results being a beautiful lawn this spring and early summer. In July I started seeing some yellowing so I applied this product three weeks ago in hopes of a nice dark green lawn into the fall. Nothing happened! The lawn is still splotchy pale green with yellow "highlights". Should i be waiting longer for results? I'm wondering if this product is suitable for sandy soils and periods of high rainfall. Could the fertilizer just leach right on through my soil due to being sandy and lots of rain? The product is too expensive to try again. I'll stay with the original Scotts products.

I purchased and applied this product approximately 3 weeks ago and am extremely satisfied up to this point. Application was quick and easy and so far the lawn looks great. We've had quite a number of very hot days here (90%+) with high humidity and the lawn has weathered the heat quite well. Thanks, Scotts!

Applied at 2/3 rate and after one week turned a picture perfect lawn into a blotchy lawn with yellow patches. I advised our lawn service we applied Scotts Summer Turf Builder and he mentioned there has been numerous complaints with similar results. I confirmed on the internet. I have been using Scotts products for over thirty years and this is very disappointing.

I will apply this to my lawn today and then should get off-and-on rain for the next several days. The only ingredient I need is nitrogen (34-0-0) plus slow water absorption. This should fit the bill. I have 2 acres but only 1/3 is lawn. I will advise results in 3-4 weeks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this product last late Summer and Fall to try to fill in bare areas. It did help some, but it was so hot and dry that it was almost pointless. Once it cooled off a bit, the grass did start growing; before the first freeze shut it down. But the product worked.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Summer Lawn Food worked really well on our yard. It was quite easy to spread with spreader (got my steps in). We tend to have very hot summers here, and this captured the sprinkler water from morning and aided with making a much healthier lawn for us.

Not sure about spreader setting recommendation

I just applied this today so im giving it five stars based on history with Scott products. I’ve been following the Scotts lawn act for three years and have been very happy, lawn looks amazing. Normally this time of year it would have me apply Scott’s green max tm lawn food, but this year it recommended Scott’s turfbuilder summer lawn food. My lot is 17000+ sf, house is around 3000, pool deck around 3000, so with driveway I figure around 10000 sf. I try not to overfertilize, sometimes I have some leftover, sometimes I’m short, but it usually works out. Since this product comes in 4000 I had to buy three bags. I use a Scott’s speedy green 3000 so I set it to 4 as recommended. No way is this accurate! The grains are huge and the product came out very slowly. After finishing the front yard the spreader was still very full. When I got to the backyard I changed the setting to 5 and it seemed to flow much better. After finishing the back I returned to the front yard and switched it back to 4 because I was afraid of over doing it and I re did the front yard. I ended up with about 3/4 of a bag leftover. I hope you guys figure this out.
