Vornado Transom Window Fan

This is the best window fan. I have had one for years this is my second one for another room. I have had purchased lots of window fans from every manufactrer this is the only one to last more than a year.

We are very pleased with our new window fan. It blows nice cool air and is quiet. It’s sleek and looks & works way better than a box fan! It was very easy to install.

I bought this fan to put in the window of my smoking room. It's perfect. Quite and very effective. Turned it on 9 months ago. It's run 24/7 ever since.

Only good as an exhaust fan (you won't feel air moving = will help with sinuses/allergies) When using as a external fan — reverse exhaust — all heat and humidity is kept out of the house/room (depending on open doors = 2 per floor is enough for 4+ rooms each floor) ***upon opening exterior doors you will feel the difference*** ***leave on 24hrs*** (atleast while out of house while “working" = then use "portable" AC as wanted in desired rooms while at home) ___ Problems other people had are still present (don't use "green light" — eco —temperature control) and occasional noises stop if —hard reset — unplugging then restarting ____ My complaint is it should be more durable (white UV stains = turns yellow = lifespan 3+ years before brittle) ***buy black*** with white foam foam needs replacement every 2-3 years (should have an "removable" expanding sides like portable ACs) ***A filter would help for regular fan use*** (other people actually used thin foam on exterior) if you don't already have a window screen

Really disappointed in this as I thought it would move much more air than it does. It is very quiet but doesn’t really move air and is basically worthless.

stopped working after 13 months with no reason why. The 5 year guarantee is a 30% off coupon. I bought this based on the reviews and the guarantee and it did not live up to either.

Brought this fan about a month ago. I love the slim design and look,but not enough fan speed. Definitely doesn’t cool the bedroom I’m using it for. So disappointed, since it was so highly rated.

I have had the two I bought for a couple of months now. And although the air flow is great the temperature is at the window and not the room temperature. So shuts off at 60 degrees (or whatever you have it set at) when the room itself is not that low. Would be nice if they could adjust that feature or just let it run without having to have a temperature set.

This is QUALITY! Easily adapts to window width. Moves a lot of air and the only way you know it is on is the fresh air blowing into the area. Extremely quiet!

Just got this recently, great for this small room and really moves air. Was skeptical at first due to a lot of reviews saying it doesn't move air well. It actually does move a ton of air but the air is pushed in almost a perfectly straight line ahead of the fan and doesn't spread much. there isn't a way to direct where the air is blown which would have been a great feature. You should pick up some anti-bug mesh if you want to install this because the back is quite easy for insects to enter unless you are exhausting air out. Some weatherproof tape and any mesh small enough to keep out bugs should do. It would have been nice if they included an attachable mesh in the design for the back of the unit. Another thing I noticed is that if there is rain splashing on the windowsill it has a tendency to fly inside the unit getting through into the house when it is blowing in. The mesh I previously mentioned catches the water before it goes in mostly keeping you from being hit by tiny mists of water.

We had "barrel" fans in the past and we loved what they do, but our last one bit the dust 15 years ago. This unit far exceeded our expectations. The air temp and quality was immediately noticeable and it is whisper quiet. Love it

I don't feel the Vornado Transom is securely held in place in the window. During installation, after placing the Transom in place and before I was able to lower the window the Transom fell out of the window. Luckily there was a roof just below which broke it's fall and I was able to grab the power cord and pull the Transom back in. Vornado should correct this or stop selling Transom fans. I was hoping that something named Transom could be safely mounted on the upper portion of the window like an actual transom. The Vornado Transom cannot be mounted in the upper portion of the window. The foam inserts did not completely fill in the gaps between the window frame and the window.

The transom window circulator is well worth the price. I have a smaller Vornado fan that I purchased a few years back. I plan on purchasing the stand up fan that's energy smart. I ordered extra foam seals just in case I needed to change windows. My windows are not the ones you would see on a you tube page, their newer. The good thing about this product is it fits perfectly in the window with out compromising the screen in the window. I rated it a 4 for two reasons. The cfm for this unit should be higher. Having the fan on number four is okay but I would prefer a stronger breeze. If Vornado decides to upgrade this unit I hope its a higher cfm. Cleaning the air circulator can be challenging. It would be nice to incorporate an access to the inside of the unit for easy cleaning. Unfortunately with this unit there's no easy way to clean it. You have to be super careful how you clean it. I'm satisfied with the purchase.

I bought the transom window fan a couple of months ago, it works so well that I bought two more.

I bought it before it got hot. I love that it is nice and quiet. We put it in the bedroom window and the temperature in the room dropped really quickly.

I bought this a month ago to use in our kitchen and plan to buy at least one more for use elsewhere in the house. It is quiet, powerful, and easy to adjust. I only wish I'd bought it sooner!

I live in a small apartment that has few windows. It's above a restaurant kitchen so it gets hot up here, and the air just does not move during the summer, so it gets stale and stuffy inside even with an air conditioner. I don't like being in cold, dry AC air all summer, especially at night when it is cool outside, and I'm trying to use fans more often to cut energy costs compared to air conditioning. With this situation, the Transom fan makes a huge difference. Even with just the fan running intake or exhaust on low, with the top of the double-hung window open above it (the other window in this room is occupied by the AC, so it's the best I can do), it rapidly exchanges the inside and outside air to cool the apartment and bring in a consistent flow of fresh air. This thing really moves a lot of air, fast. And this apartment is notoriously hard to cool, but the Transom fan will bring the temp from 78 down to 71 at night, or during a warm day, without issue. The low setting is very, very quiet and brings a steady, cool breeze across my sofa and armchair in the living room, which is great, or it steadily pulls out hot air and lets cool air come in through the open top of the window. The high setting is not very loud, just a steady rushing sound of air, can't even really hear the motor. Much, much quieter than my AC or other fans. It's great when cooking, too - the window is in my combined kitchen/living room and it exhausts the heat really well. I usually run it all night on low so that when I get up in the morning, the apartment is nice and cool and the air is fresh. Basically, whenever I'm not using my AC, I'm using the Transom fan. It even fit inside the small, mediocre, non-standard replacement window my landlord put in with no trouble - the block system is a little tricky but I managed to squeeze it in. The fan doesn't "seal" when off/closed (the fan when off rotates inside the unit to block airflow, but not completely), and I need to use some tape around the blocks to get a complete seal around the fan unit. However, the airflow when the unit is off is extremely minimal, so I haven't bothered taking it out of the window when I use the air conditioner. I might use some winter window film and tape to create a barrier over the fan grill on truly hot days to prevent hot air coming in, which would be easier than taking the fan out of the window (this fan seems to be intended to stay installed rather than cheaper, standard window fans with extendable sides that you can pop in and out). With a Vornado tower circulator in the room to really move all the air around and supplement the Transom, this is a great cooling and air exchange option that doesn't rely on air conditioning and makes a challenging cooling situation easier to manage during the hot months. I love it. Five stars.
