Q: Can this fan be installed with the window screen still in place? Or does the outside have to be clear of the screen?
A: The Vornado Transom Window Fans are designed to be installed with the screen still in place to keep insects out.

Q: Can this be placed at the top of a double-hung sliding window? The top window pane can slide down.
A: The Vornado Transom Window Fans are designed to be placed in the bottom of a window. There is an extended section on the bottom of the fan that fits into the track of the frame. This helps to keep it in place. This will not allow it to be safely and securely installed at the top. Q: Can this item be placed in a sliding window with a vertical opening.
A: The Window Fans are designed to be installed horizontally in the traditional, bottom opening of a window. The shape of it, how it fits into the bottom groove and using the weight of the window to help stabilize it, make installing in the vertical position inadvisable. Installing the unit in a vertical orientation can create a strain on the motor and could affect the output and longevity of the unit.
