Q: There's need for sunscreen under eyes and on eye lids because need protection. But then read where the sunscreen would sting eyes. Which of your sunscreens would you recommend for for eye areas?

submitted by Pinchbuggies - 5 months ago
  • A: Hello! Thank you for your question. The skin around your eyes is very thin and prone to UV damage, so it’s important to keep it protected with daily SPF. We recommend our Sensitive Face SPF30 Lotion, Sheer Face SPF50 Lotion, and/or our Sensitive Mineral SPF50 Stick for easy face application. When using these products, keep out of the eyes. Rinse with water to remove. -Blue Lizard Team

Q: What is the difference between the formulations with active ingredient octisalate and those without? For instance, Kids 50+ versus Sensitive 30+ or 50+ (without octisalate). Does one go on more smoothly? or last longer?

submitted by HBar - 3 years ago
  • A: Blue Lizard’s mineral-based sunscreen formulas for Kids, Active, and Sport SPF 50+ contain Octisalate, as opposed to Octocrylene, as the added active ingredient along with mineral Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. Blue Lizard’s Sensitive and Baby mineral sunscreen formulas only contain Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide as the active ingredients to reduce the chance of irritation for those with sensitive skin. Our Kids and Sensitive SPF 50+ formulas are both water resistant up to 80 minutes. Our Sensitive SPF 30+ formula is water resistant up to 40 minutes. All our sunscreens are to be reapplied at least every 2 hours. We are not aware of any texture differences when applying any of these formulations.

Reef friendly. Used for a week in Hawaii and ever had a sunburn. A little goes a long way and takes a bit of effort to rub in. Will probably leave a white cast, as it creates a physical barrier. I really like how the cap changes color when exposed to harmful UV light to remind you to apply and reapply.

I wanted to like this however it’s very difficult to blend in and it just pours out of the bottle. It’s also hard to wash off in the shower. I use it all over and I have to exfoliate to get it off my skin. Wouldn’t recommend.

This sunscreen is absolutely wild. I will give it props on not being greasy or smelly. HOWEVER…this stuff is an absolute mess. After I applied it, I started noticing and white yet iridescent trail wherever I went. My purse, my phone, my glasses, the seats of my car, my steering wheel-even the outside of my car! I used this in June it’s now August and I still can’t get it off the interior and exterior of my car. Would not recommend this product.

Definitely effective. I use it on my face everyday and my whole body when needed. It’s not oily, I can’t really feel it on my skin at all. There is no white cast (at least for my pale skin) . My only complaint is that the bottle leaks when I put it in my backpack or suitcase.

I have sensitive skin and will get aggressive hives 48 hours after applying some sunscreens and despite this one being a mineral sunscreen labeled for sensitive skin it still broke me out in hives. Not exactly sure what ingredient is causing it but this doesn’t beat Neutrogenas sensitive sunscreens.

It's great for keeping me protected in the sun on my walks but watch out when you sit because it'll leave a white greasy stain on whatever your arm is against. Stains in my new car and my office chair's arm rests are also stained now. I tried to wash my arm rests with soap and water and it helps a little but there's still a white powdery cast :(

Used this on my whole family for a very sunny day at a theme park. Not only were there no sunburns (we're all very pale blondes and burn super easy) but I could actually feel a difference in temperature on my skin where the sunscreen was and wasn't (cooler where the sunscreen was). It's heavy on your skin but I don't think anything that isn't really works in my experience. The cap turning purple in the sun is cool and a good reminder to use it. A little goes a fairly long way, too. You definitely have to rub it in and I think it does leave me looking a bit paler but it's worth it not to be burned imo.

i bought this for daily use all over the body and it was expensive, but i was under the impression that if it was australian it was probably good. i have since learned that it’s not even sold in australia, which is very deceptive imo. i’m returning it immediately. it leaves a horrible white cast, and i am lightest-shade-of-foundation pale, i cant imagine how bad it would be on deeper skin tones. i could maybe look past it if it wasn’t terrible to wear. it rubbed off onto my clothes, my furniture, my shoes, the seats of my car, everything i touched. it felt like i was wearing white paint that hadn’t dried. it was also incredibly greasy. after wearing it for about 4-5 hours i had to take a shower just to wash it off because i was so uncomfortable. and you have to really scrub or use an oil cleanser to really remove it - which makes me wonder how it managed to get all over everything i own. this stuff is terrible. i don’t know what a better option might be, but this it not it.

I was looking for a sunscree that didn't make my eyes sting and learned that mineral sunscreens don't burn eyes. I have also been very particular about using a non-greasy light sunscreen. This does 1 out of 2 - doesn't make my eyes sting but leaves my skin feeling greasy no matter how little I use. I have olive skin and at least it doesn't leave a white cast if rubbed in well. I will finish using but will not buy again.

The only sun screen I’ll ever use, I won’t lie it leaves a white cast and takes a while to blend in. But it truly does do the job! I spent hours in 12 UV rays, I didn’t burn not one single bit. Definitely recommend!!
