Heres how it works: just change the filter refill and keep the reusable filter shell. Certified to reduce Chlorine (taste and odor), Copper, Mercury and Cadmium***, one refillable filter can replace up to 300 16.9 oz single use plastic bottles. While our Refillable Filters work well to reduce chlorine, cadmium, copper, mercury, and zinc from municipally treated tap water, hard water can contain different contaminants, such as calcium and magnesium carbonates, that won't be reduced. As long as your water is municipally treated, you can still use our filters to achieve better-tasting water. I purchased this about six months ago. Have changed out the filter twice now & have found it to be pretty easy. The light is no longer working not sure why but love this pitcher. Had a problem with the old type & the inability to reduce plastic.

Confused, is the filter just a plastic cup? How would it filter any microbes if I push paper through the slits. Idk, this contraption has my brain spinning. Does this random bag filled with (what seems like sand) go into the filter? The direction spend too much time on telling you it’s simple but lack informing you what this random bag is for, am i supposed to know?

The 10 cup Pitcher is very BRITTLE. Mine was cracked when I got it home. I can't prove it was cracked before purchase and I can't find anywhere to buy just a replacement pitcher... which I would do. My 27 cup unit filters water great. It's a little slow, imo, but does a great job of getting the excessive amount of Chlorine out.

I used to live in town using highly chlorinated water and it greatly helps it taste like better water. Using it at my new house that has a well, it helps remove the metallic taste and smell from my water to allow me to drink it without having to purchase bottled water due to the strong metal taste. My refrigerator has a filtered water option but this tastes more pure and allows not to have colder water.

I never drink tap water here but this filter actually works. It makes the tap water taste good and is drinkable. The only cumbersome part is filling the water reservoir 3 times and dumping the water to get rid of the carbon. I absolutely recommend to anyone that lives in a city with gross or cloudy tap water.
