Q: I see clips, does that mean it would work with slides?
submitted by Nedxxx - 3 years ago
A: The GeoSafari Stereoscope is intended for 3-D objects. It is not intended to be used with slides since the light on the Stereoscope comes from the top.

This is a good quality microscope, not a plastic toy. It comes with 2 sets of eye lenses, which are easily changed and some rock samples as well as instructions. All you need to add are some batteries. The rock samples are interesting to look at and allow you to start using this product straight away. The quality is surprisingly good and the product is really well made. The up/down function works smoothly allowing you to get a decent focus. It fact I was impressed at the image it allowed you to see. The details, sharpness and clarity made me say wow! I wish there was a way to show what you can see through the lenses. I agreed with the starting age recommendation for the product but I don't think it needs an upper limit. I would happily recommend this product. I can see it really supporting my son's learning over the next years.
Love this product!

Wow! Words can't describe the excitement and joy that came from my daughter as she opened this product with me, then proceeded to analyse each different rock fragment that was included with great purpose. The product and everything that came included is of incredible quality and will most likely last a lifetime! Absolutely brilliant product for any little scientist!
One of the best toys we have.

This has to be one of the best toys we have!! My girls love nature and seeing it close up totally inspires them to explore it further. Its so easy to use, take it out of the box and add batteries. There are two options with the eye pieces depending on the magnification you want to use but its very straight forward, it does come with a manual, but we didn't need to use it to set it up. The batteries power the light ensuring you can see the object clearly, the dial controls the focus and is easy to move, my 4 and 7 year old can use it without help. They (and me!!) were fascinated in the things we looked at, from dead fly wings to seeing the pixels on the pictures in their story books. Its really well made, I would totally recommend this.
Great magnification and so easy for children to use..

The GeoSafari Stereoscope is a great way for children to get a really close look at things. This is a fully functional microscope with up to 20x magnification. It is so easy to use, it didn't take long before my 6 year old was finding objects to look at, and setting it up himself. It features a handy light at the top, so you can get a really close look. This Stereoscope comes with 12 small rock samples for you to look at. We have used this to look at bones, feathers, leaves and flowers so far and found it very good.!.. I like the fact it has an easy focus knob, meaning that the children can very quickly swap between themselves and re focus it without help. We have already planned what else we are going to look at through this, and my boys can't wait.. I would definitely recommend this for any child who is interested in looking at things a bit closer!..

Included in the box is the Stereoscope already fitted with 10x magnification eyepieces, a set of 20x magnification eyepieces.12 pack rock samples with named compartments and information booklet. Stereoscope looks great very sturdy with a light to help see the items. I found the pack the rocks came in hard to open but I like that its clear, I was worried about the rocks falling out upon opening and getting mixed up perhaps it would be better with a clip/magnetic close lid box. The information booklet included gave details on the 3 main types/classes of rocks in the world in an easy to understand way. Each rock included in the kit had a picture and brief but informative description included in the booklet. The eyepieces are very easy to swap over, the focus is very easy to use my 6 year olds were able to use it independently. After exploring each of the rocks my kids raced off to find more items to explore including some herbs and flowers from our garden and they tried some random things from around the house. The favourite for my kids to view other than the rocks was the lavender flower, you could see everything in such great detail. We even checked out some bones from our Owl Pellet Mystery Kit also from Learning Resources and the kids were amazed that they could see the ridges of the teeth and even some small bits of fur that previously was invisible to them. My kids were using this for such a long time and discussing with each other the things that they could see then asking what each other could see that was different and what else could be used. We love walking around our local area and finding different things to explore so I would've loved it if this had come with a protective case instead of polystyrene enabling us to take it with us without fear of damage and loosing the eyepieces. This is such a great piece of equipment to have in almost all types of setting.

This stereoscope is very sturdy and a great size for children. It has a nice light built in to help see objects clearer and two sets of magnification 10x and 20x. My nine year old daughter loves using this to get a closer look at objects in nature, e.g flowers and leaves etc. It is very easy to use and adjust the focus. It also has two little clips to hold objects in place and stop them moving about. We especially loved the little rock kit that came with it and corresponding booklet explaining all about them. I would definitely recommend this to any home school educator as well as any children who enjoy taking a closer look at the world around them. The design means children over the age of 8 can use independently, which is definitely a bonus for helping promote and encourage self learning and exploration. Far better than many I've used in the past, will last.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The GeoSafari Stereoscope is an engaging activity for the whole family. My older children had as much fun as my younger children looking at all the rocks magnified. My family continues to be entertained daily, each person is always bringing unique items to look at under the stereoscope. One of the coolest things we have seen is the pollen on a flower we brought in from our garden to look at. It is one of the most fascinating science products we have used! I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The GeoSafari Stereoscope had all of my older kids entertained (8, 12, 13 years old) it comes with 12 rock samples, 10x and 20x magnification eye pieces, and has dual eye pieces so you can see them in 3D. You can also put anything else you can want to magnifier under it'll the lens. It kept them busy for hours! They were collecting leaves, dead bugs, and random objects. It got them engaged and they were learning at the same time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This item that I received was just what I needed. As a parent of multiple children it is a hard time for my kids to learn because of this pandemic and this geosafari was just what I needed. All of my kids enjoyed looking at the rocks and describing it to me and just analyzing them with the powerful 20x microscope.
