These are not for home composting. These are for you if you live in a municipality with a composting bin that gets picked up weekly with your trash, like when we lived in Portland. I think they would be great for that. Nicer than the little green bags we used to get for our kitchen bin when we lived there. However I am now far away from any municipal composting program and I have compost bins set up on my land. I was hoping to use these as liner for my kitchen scraps bin as it gets pretty gross. Technically I can do this but then I end up having to throw the bag in the trash after emptying the scraps into my compost bin and that doesn't seem like a sustainable choice. I can just wash out the scrap bin and go without liners. Great concept, and useful depending on where you live.

When I saw the word “compostable” I immediately thought “flimsy.” These bags were definitely not that by a long shot. They are thick and well made. Where the drawstring is, I’m not worried about it pulling through or ripping the bag. I was thoroughly surprised by the quality of these bags. They get the job done!

Great for your food scraps if your a family to use on a daily basis. Once it is around full, it can go in the compost pile and mix right in. Nice size which fits a bunch of food in it. Nice drawstring design as well. I am surprised of the durability considering it is compostable as well.

These Matter compostable scrap trash bags do a great job at keeping the smell down. They don't leak and they hold a good amount. I can't speak on the efficiency of their compostable-ness, but assuming they work like they're supposed to, I love using them for my food scraps.

Love, love, love these trash bags! They are perfect for my bathroom trash bins. I love that they’re made from compostable material and they actually hold quite a lot of garbage too! These are non-scented and are perforated and easily tear apart for a new bag each time.

I have always tried to teach my family about the importance of recycling but really didn't think about when I use the plastic bag from the grocery or buying bags for my 3 gallon kitchen can or counter top scrape bin. So I must admit I was happy to discover Matter Compostable food scrape bags. These three gallon bags (17x17) actual fit nicely in my counter top foot scape bin and are made of natural, renewable plants materials that compost completely within twelve months. The bags appear to be made well, with sturdy seams and a drawstring closure. Also thick enough to handle a reasonable amount of fruits, veggies and other kitchen waste with no" rips or fall out" even when a teen boy takes out my garbage. We will definitely purchase the composable bags and recommend to family and friends.
