EZ patch maybe easy but not for growing grass
1 out of 5 stars

I have a fescue lawn and every spring I have bare spots that require patching. I usually put on grass seed, work it into the soil and put on a light covering for moisture and I see grass in 7 to 10 days. I tried Scot's EZ patch this year and after 10 days saw no growth and after 14 days saw some growth but not enough to take care of my patches. Scotts is high priced and in this case was definitely NOT worth it/

I saw some 1-star reviews so had to chime in. This stuff is magic. As long as you water it and then keep it moist, the seeds will germinate, even if you pour the mix on a concrete slab. It’s just expensive.

I bought this product and followed the directions with little to no results. Disappointed. I also have been using Scott’s products for the past year ish following a plan I have on a Lawn Care app and have not had great results (okay results) and have been working hard for a greener thicker lawn. I will likely be switching brands.

I applied this product as directed and it’s been at least two weeks. I water everyday so that the soil stays brown and damp. The seeds have not opened and sprouted

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts EZ Seed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. This seed generally requires temperatures consistently in the 65+°F range for cool season grasses. Cool night-time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed. We recommend watering 1-2 times per day to keep the seeds moist, until seed germinates. Then, we recommend watering about 1-1 1/2" per week as needed. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Make sure the ground is still visible when EZ Seed has been applied. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
Works well most of the time.

Most of the time Scotts EZ Seed works great. Seeds geminate at a faster pace than regular seeding. There have been a few times where the germination has been sparse but overall it has worked well for me. If I do have a sparse area that did not germinate I will add more and then it starts to germinate.

It has been around a month and there is no signs of these seeds germinating. At least 50 percent of the seeds should have worked, but there are no signs. This has been very disappointing.

Works as advertised. Proper prep and constant watering early fall seeding makes for grass success, But the price for so little grass coverage makes it unlikely buy for most consumers.

Overall rating is a 0 (ZERO), because 1 is too high. I will NEVER purchase this product or Scotts again. My lawn is filled with the same unidentifiable weeds that were pictured by Bob272727. All of the "We're Sorry" comments do not make up for the time, effort, water, and cost incurred using this product. Now, I am forced to do damage control and remove all of the garbage weeds infesting my lawn that your product was so happy to provide.

Wow, this product is fantastic. We had a large trench near our landscaping around half the house that needed new grass, some areas were almost 6 feet wide. All the clay was turned up, so we applied a light topsoil, then EZ seed, watered as directed. It looks fabulous, it's been since May and the color has blended beautifully with our existing lawn. Very pleased.

I have been using EZseed for many years now with no problems. The spots where I put the EZseed down this time has all Spotted Spurge weeds in it! The roots on those weeds are difficult to try to pull up. I hope the quality of their product is not wavering because I will have to switch to another brand.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts EZ Seed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. Depending on conditions and the seed type, the grass can take from 6 to 14 days to start to germinate. Germination requires air temperatures consistently above 65 degrees F. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. If a weed control is used around the time of seeding, it will either prevent the seeds from germination outright or destroy the seedlings as they emerge. Make sure the ground is still visible when EZ Seed has been applied. If the seed was applied too thickly, the seed on the bottom will still germinate; gently water the area for 2 minutes to allow the water to reach the seeds. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

Thought I would bite the bullet and spend the extra money for a reputable grass seed. Spent significant time prepping the soil. Followed the directions to a tee. Planted at the correct time of season. Watered as suggested. Likely less than 1% germination rate. Entire 10 lb bag generated roughly 20 blades of grass. Seeded area has both sunny and shaded areas so I do not think it is a matter of seed selection. Besides, bag says for sun and shade. If this is representative of Scotts products, I would pass them by for my next purchase.

Wish there was a zero star option. They guarantee it will grow anywhere. Can't even get it to grow in the best environment possible. I hand tilled the bare spots, put the seed down and waited. It was watered, the temp was never below 65, no foot traffic and in sunlight. Not even one blade of grass. Very disappointed.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Ezseed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. A deep and thorough initial watering is the key to success. Make sure the ground is still visible when EZ Seed has been applied and saturate with water until no more water is being absorbed and mulch turns dark brown. When EZ Seed begins to turn light brown, it's time to water again. Continue to water daily as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. This seed germinates best when daytime temperatures are between 60 and 80 degrees F. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. Easiest way to grow grass

I've tried many different products when it comes to growing grass, with varying results. The Scotts EZ Seed is far and away the best one. Consistently produces healthy, thick grass, usually mowable after 2-3 weeks. All you need to do is keep it wet. No need for straw or any additional fertilizer. Just make sure its consistently moist and the day time temps aren't much higher than 80 or lower than 60. It's expensive but well worth it.
