Q: How do you get the cord to stay out once you’ve pulled out the length you want? It just keeps retracting back into the mechanism.

A: Hello and thank you for your question. Please follow these steps regarding your Retractable Cord: 1. When winding the cord, hold the plug with one hand, and press the winding button with the other hand. (Failure to hold plug may cause plug to fly.) 2. The cord reel is compact for multi-layer winding of the cord. In case cord is not fully rewound, pull out the cord and steer cord evenly on the reel. 3. In case the cord is not pulled out easily, pull cord firmly. 4. Select the amount of cord desired before plugging into an electrical outlet. 5. Do not allow children to use retractable cord feature as the cord may cause injury. Dust or debris can sometimes interfere with the mechanism. Test the Mechanism: If none of the above steps work, try fully retracting the cord and then pulling it out again. Q: I bought this iron 6 months ago and cannot get it to steam while ironing. I can use the shot of steam but while ironing a garment it does not steam on its own despite having the dial set on steam.

I’ve had irons over the years that may have discharge of brown water every blue moon however, this iron seems to do it quite often ruining light colored clothes and I feel like in order to get a good steam. I always have to press the steam button.

The retractable cord broke within 3 months with very light use. Save the money and buy the iron with the clunky cord because that's what we ended up with anyway! At least it gets hot and does that part of its job.

The Retractable cord mechanism is not working properly it retracts on its own without using the button which makes it hard to use. The cord will not stay out very long before retracting. ☹️ It performs great ! 👍🏼

I wish I could give it 0 stars. Never did I think an iron would cause me so much frustration. The cord will NOT stay extended. I also added about 1/4 cup of water and it just leaked out of the bottom even though the iron was hot. I love ironing so much and this made me want to cry lol. Looking forward to returning it ASAP. So disappointing.

But, I didn’t care for this iron, it would be much better for quilts or ironing something with thickness or heavy fabric. Isn’t something you want to purchase for everyday ironing. The retractable cord kept on unretrsctrscting and flying out of the electrical socket. The water leaked terribly too. It gets way way too hot even on the lowest setting. This product wasn’t from me.

It took the winkles right out! The retractable cord and base make it easier to store instead of wrapping a cord around it. I like the design of this iron and would most definitely recommend to my friends and family.

I find the retractable cord feature to be a useful addition, but I do wish it were a bit longer for added flexibility. While the large water tank is a nice feature, it can be challenging to determine the water level inside. However, once filled, the iron does an excellent job of smoothing out even the most stubborn creases in clothing. That said, the heating time could be improved as it takes a while to reach the desired temperature.

I used this Sunbeam 1700W Retractable Iron in the color blue and white, I had done a test done on some of the more complicated areas and iron is typically used for crisp and clean fabric and edges. The item I tested this on was a standard black men’s button up dress shirt. The steam feature was many of the best parts using this product, along with the dial to seamlessly turn the temperatures up and down. Having the retractable cord makes it easy to store and the iron itself has a fast heat up as well as a recovering time to cool off and store efficiently. I will be recommending this iron to family and friends.
