Back to the Roots Organic Raised Bed Mix is a great soil for growing edible plants, including herbs, veggies, and fruits, in a raised garden bed or container. This premium soil blend contains all-purpose plant food to help grow bigger plants*, dolomitic limestone to adjust pH, and yucca extract (saponin) for moisture control, all blended with gypsum for better water absorption. Our raised bed mix is peat-free, meaning that instead of imported peat, the base of our soils is made from upcycled plant matter and wood fines. A: Hi S! Our soils are made from processed forest products, coir, limestone, fertilizer, mycorrhizae, and moisture-balancing yucca. Depending on the soil bag, the organic fertilizers could have ingredients derived from milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, or soy. Please read through each soil bag's exact ingredients in case you have any allergies to any of these ingredients. Q: Is it okay/normal for this to be full of little mushrooms? I'm using it in buckets indoors for tomatoes.

Q: I opened a bag today and it is almost all powder. The normal mix is the opposite of powder. Any ideas a)what happened, b)what it is and c)how to use it so it is safe to use for vegetable plants?

Soil appeared to be broken pieces of wood, branches, and debris. Did not hold water, even after being soaked. Dusty, felt like discarded dirt, rather than Soil. Just opened it this past weekend ro supplement actual Soil in existing raised bed or would have returned it. It's past the return deadline though.

For my edibles I only use organic soil. The bunnies kept stealing my edibles so I plant in raised planters. This soil is perfect for raised planters. This mix contains contains organic plant food to nourish your plants in order for them to grow large and healthy. It also contains yucca extract to retain moisture in the soil. I'm in Florida and the sun quickly dries soil so retaining moisture is a huge plus. I'm very happy with this soil mix and highly recommend it.

Awful. So much wood in the mix. My plants struggled and I had to repot all of them. They were yellow and stunted despite even fertilizing them. The wood sucks the nitrogen from the plants.
