Q: Can you use this Roomba without the app and without the mapping?

A: While the iRobot® HOME App provides many benefits, a Wi-Fi or App connection is not required for Roomba® and Braava jet® to clean. For Roomba®, Clean, Dock, and Spot Clean do not require a connection to the app. For Braava jet®, you can initiate a cleaning mission and activate Virtual Wall® mode without being connected to the app.

A: Hello Juedes, The Combo j5 runs for up to 75 minutes. This runtime was tested in iRobot's Home Test Lab on hard floors. Run times may vary depending on amount of carpeting, and carpet pile height. The Combo j5 will return home to charge and resume cleaning after.

A: Hello Kim, the Combo j5 is enabled with Imprint® Smart Mapping technology which describes the robot’s ability to learn, map and adapt to your home. It learns your floorplan as it cleans and remembers this map for future cleaning jobs. Once the robot has learned your space you can tell it which rooms to clean and your robot will know which cleaning method to use based on the bin installed.

Terrible, first try using and it was all over the place, no pattern, just all over the place running into everything. Very loud! About 10 minutes in, got stuck in a corner and ate a cord and I couldn’t get it to work again.

Took about an hour to set up, I kept getting an error message & I had to reboot multiple times. It is constantly getting stuck. I purposely got this for the mopping feature & it’s terrible, you might as well get a different brand vacuum for a fraction of the price since this doesn’t do the job it describes. You also can’t use this at night as the app states “roomba can’t see in darker rooms try leaving a dim light on.” It also failed to charge multiple times without a notification so when it was time for me to use it the battery was dead.

Mop will not work, everytime I change it over, goes right back to home. Called and got a replacement vacuum and the new one does the exact same thing.

This thing sucks for 600+$. I'd stay away from iRobot and its products. They never work. Smart maps are always a mess. I ask the roomba to clean one room, and it does the opposite. Selecting multiple rooms to clean never does the job. It even say the job is completed by just cleaning one room. This Roomba i7 is very confused. And the j5 cannot vacuum carpets that are higher than 1/4 inch. Which is confirmed by the Customer Support. How stupid are they? They just said the j5 can only vacuum floors and not carpets. Being j5's navigation based on a camera, it's been a year now, and it would still ask for a review when it sees a curtain in the room for the hundredth time. Spend your money elsewhere. I have been an iRobot Customer since 2018, with i7 being my first vacuum and now j5. Both have been garbage for the past 3 years. It has been nothing but a headache to me.

The robot has not managed to complete our home as of yet. Granted we still have lots of obstacles out in the way. We are still moving furniture and other items. Our bag is full and it's nearly impossible to empty it. They should have a zipper to clean the bag with, as it is a 1" hole is a bad design.

The roomba gets stuck on everything (chairs, tables and rugs) and never finishes the job I have to take out the broom and finish the job the same for the wet mop. I will be returning it.

I only use it for vacuuming right now, once it is totally used to that map I will start with the mopping. I do love my irobot Charlie. That's what I named him. But he does a wonderful job.

good price on sale. quieter than last roomba. picks up dust and sand well. Dislike the dustbin is smaller than last one and more challenging to empty without making mess It doesn’t have a carrying handle. There were many complaints on mop in reviews but I haven’t tried it yet. I figure it will be better mop than none in between normal mopping.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was soooo excited to try out this J5 Robot Roomba vac and mop. We have dogs and cats plus outdoor chickens so our house is always a mess. We set the app up very easily on our phones and after the initial test run it was good to go! Even our pets aren't afraid of it because it's so quiet. It works very well in rugs, tile and hardwood floors. We love that it has a sensor to not run over poo poo. That's huge! So far we absolutely love this machine. We're very grateful and will continue to constantly use as we have it on a programed schedule. It does it all! 10 out of 10!!

The vacuum is very well built and designed. It's a great time saver. overall it does a great job. It's easy to use and configure. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with pets and kids.

This vacuum mapped out my house perfectly, and saves me so much time in cleaning it. I'd first like to speak on how aesthetically pleasing this machine is, and how it almost looks decorative sitting on the charger. The mopping feature is a huge plus, and seems to get my laminate wood floors clean, without having to add extra steps. It does a great job in cleaning the entire house on one charge, and it isn't obnoxiously loud. I love it! I've already recommended to a few friends. We decided to name it " Optimus Grime " Thank you influenster!

This vacuum cleaned every inch of my home thoroughly and did not get stuck one time! The cameras can see anything in its way and it avoids the obstacles with precision! The app is super cool and user friendly so you can control it from your phone! It also has a mopping feature that is awesome! It will actually mop specified zones for you with precision and gets them super clean! Did I mention it empties itself when finished? This robot vacuum does it all for complete floor care! It is truly life changing! I would give it more stars if I could!! Highly recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great vacuum if you know how to use it. I know that phrase sounds a bit odd since this a robot vacuum. The automatic cleaning function works. However, you need to make sure that it properly mapped out your area. To have it mapped out for you often leads to wonky floor diagrams. I really wish the app would allow the user to correct the room lines rather than rely on the robot vacuum's own mapping feature. The mapping feature is imperfect as if there are items and or furniture with legs, it maps them out a bit wonky. Also, if it has trouble turning, it will display the room as slanted. So there is a bit of work that iRobot needs to do in order improve the mapping function. Now if you have a good map, it works. It presets its parameters and does it job.

It does require you to download an app for it called iRobot, then you set it up yourself according to instruction booklet that comes with the robot vaccum. You control the robot with your phone. Very easy to use and is easily charged. It does require you to allow ot to map your house first then you can name each room of your house and save it on your phone. No matter where you are just instruct the robot to go and clean the whole house or just a specific room/area, you actually see the robot working in the room/ area and once done you can dock it back to its place. Once back in place it empties itself automatically to its attached bin. I haven't tried the mop option yet but will try soon. I love it and I am very excited about it. By the way I named mine as Raju. Lol.

The fact that it vacuums and mops all in one is just incredible. The battery lasts forever, and charging it is a breeze. It's surprisingly quiet, except when it's emptying the bin. Setting it up to map my house was very easy, and now it navigates like a pro. I've tried other robot vacuums, but none even come close to this one. If you're in the market for a Roomba, don't hesitate, get this one.
