  • A: This is really disappointing. Why should we pay the same price for a product that does less? Some of us have pull down spray nozzles and can't use the faucet filter. It makes me want to switch brands.

I bought this product at the end of October this year. All three filter didn’t work at all. When we tried to return one opened and another unopened filter. The return was not accepted as we couldn’t return all 3 of the filters.

Switching to a brita!

I've used pur for years but the quality keeps getting lower and lower. The filters barely work anymore, even brand new out of the box they sometimes don't filter at all. The water will run through them and come out tasting/smelling exactly the same as when it came out of the tap. Additionally, the filters sometimes come with moisture in the packaging. The company told me this is safe and only a result of sterilization, but I work with sterilizers and this is incorrect. I hate being lied to! Moisture after sterilization ABSOLUTELY means that mold and bacteria can develop. It's disgusting. I'd rather pay more for brita filters than pay for pur's rotten little products that come dirty and may or may not even work.

All 3 filter stopped working after 3 weeks

This filter is a piece of junk. It doesn't work after 3 weeks. Tried all three filters from the package, and nothing changed. Be aware if you have a packet with Oct 31 manufacturing date because I am sure that this whole batch is junk. Important to mention that I was using filter only for 1 person use. You keep water for the whole day..almost 20 plus hours and it will filter only few cups.

Water doesn't filter through new filters

These do a great job of cleaning the water when they actually filter it. They used to be fantastic filters. I think I’ve used these lead-filtering ones for close to a decade. The last package seemed to need to be changed faster to keep water going through…fine…I’ll do that for safety. But the current package’s first filter worked (albeit a bit slowly)…for a day…then stopped. As in, I filled the pitcher around midnight last night and nothing had gone through by 9am. On a 2-day old filter. I opened it on Halloween. I’ve done the shaking and resoaking, etc. (which should NOT have to be done each day) and…nothing. It’s already a big waste of money if one doesn’t work, but if the other two in this 3-pack behave similarly, I’ll return them to Target as defective (they are), and find a new brand of water filter to switch to. There’s something up with Pur’s quality control these days, because these filters used to be GREAT and would work reliably for 2-3 months without issue.

Overall good. Noticed filtering slowing down so now when I refill, I first run the water (either from the faucet or sprayer) over the top of the filter for a few seconds and then proceed with filling. This keeps it flowing and I have sometimes gotten 3 months out of it. One less star as I liked the original ones years ago that had a dial on it to tell for sure when to change it out.

HORRIBLE! They filter water so slowly. Like the equivilent of filtering a bottle of water takes about 6 hours with these filters. And it only gets slower the longer you use. Never buying again.

Waste of money

These filters do make the water taste really fresh and clean, but they don't last as long as advertised, with mine not filtering after less than a month (if I take it out and shake it, I can get it to work again, but that's an annoying hassle). I live alone and drink far less than 100 ounces of water a day, so a 40-gallon filter should be lasting a couple months. I'll be going back to the other filters--that water was still palatable and the filters last longer.

Effective water filters

These work well in filtering water and ensuring clean, fresh taste of your tap. The downside is that I find each filter doesn’t last nearly as long as the package states (8 weeks); I have to replace every 5 weeks, and the filtering process slows significantly two weeks before that. My city’s tap water is considered high quality, not in need of extra filtering, so it’s unfortunate that the filters are only really designed to work optimally for about 3-4 weeks.

After a few days of use the filtration slowed down substantially. Taking 2 plus hours to filter our small pitcher. This happened with each filter in the 3 pack. We tried shaking upside down as Pur's suggests...the filtration material spilled out of the 1st filter, and there was no improvement with the other 2. Won't be buying again!

I've had problems with these filters before and just went through all 3 filters in just a couple weeks. They didn't work well at all. I'm considering not buying our filters anymore. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This water filter is a blessing if you live in an area with no clean drinking water. This removes taste and smell of chlorine which is a big plus. This filter has granulated activated carbon which truly cleans water. The installation process is easy. Make sure to soak it in water for 15 minutes before using for the first time.
