Lots of weeds growing. Most seeds did not germinate. Waste of time and money. I got more grass from the 1 lb bag than I did with the 5 lb

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Bermuda Grass and appreciate your feedback. It is normal to have some weeds germinate when seeding. There are approximately 10,000 weed seeds per 1 cubic foot of native soil. Soil preparation brings weed seeds to the surface. All Scotts seed is thoroughly cleaned and is 99.9% weed seed free, in fact The Scotts Advantage states weeds are removed from our crops by filtering Scotts seed 3 times. Our WaterSmart PLUS Grass Seed is harvested in June/July, well before the time of crabgrass maturity which occurs during late summer when it sets seed. Therefore its not possible our crop can be contaminated with crabgrass seeds. Soil amendments such as manure and straw often contain weed seeds. Weed seeds can be blown or carried into area prior to WaterSmart PLUS Grass Seed becoming established. Germination times on label are based upon the grass type in the bag that will germinate the quickest. Warm Season Grasses (Bermudagrass/Centipede/Zoysia/Bahia) should be planted in early summer. They require soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius). In the spring it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil, especially in the northern states. Cool night time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Weed control used prior to seeding such as Crabgrass Preventer will prevent seed from germinating. Weed control product used on new seedlings - such as Weed & Feed products or selective weed controls for use on lawns will kill seedlings when they first germinate. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

I bought this product in target and few 1lb in other big box stores. And noticed the grass seeds has more crab grass. The pack shows less weeds but it has more crab grass. I am not happy with the grass seed and won't recommend

This was my 3rd attempt using Scott’s Bermuda seed. The first two times I did not have one single blade of grass pop up. This year I’ve had nothing but crabgrass and goose grass growing instead of Bermuda. I’ve spent hours bent over in my yard pulling weeds instead of enjoying a nice yard.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This turf builder really helps my yard out, we have clayish soil so sometimes its hard to get the lawn really going. After spreading this out within a few weeks we had nice green grass growing. And it looks more full!
Tough growing grass in Arizona

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have an area in my yard that had grass but is now dirt. Normally, the winter Rye grass is planted in October not Bermuda grass. The area was well prepared prior to putting down seeds, The dirt was loosened and weeds, rocks and roots removed. The oleanders that border the area were thinned to let more light in. The soil pH was 7. The seeds were planted with the Scotts rotary spreader at the suggested rate. The sprinkler system was set at 6 water cycles per day. The daily temperatures ranged from 60-100. No chemicals or weed control products had been used in the area. Although there was no growth in any of the 1000 square feet of soil, it is hard to blame the seeds. The consumer services were a great source of help and feedback. Back to the drawing board for next spring.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grass seed works and works quickly! It even grew in the crazy summer heat wave we’ve been having this summer. The grass comes in thick, too. I will absolutely be using it again this fall to bulk up my lawn before winter.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used product to reseed areas after a minor drought period. Seed took with little effort and continued dry conditions (with some irrigation). Planning to purchase more as new dry/dead areas have emerged with dry conditions continuing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a few bare spots that needed grass and this worked well. Planted the seeds and kept them watered. They germinated within a couple of weeks and so far still doing well and starting to fill in better. The main thing to establish grass is to keep it watered! Will definitely buy again!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grass seed is a mixture of Bermuda seed, fertilizer, and clay as a moisture retainer. The photo shows three distinctly different entities. The seed, fertilizer, and the clay. Definitely rake the area before seeding and then tamp in the seed to cover slightly with soil. Do not let it dry out. It may take a couple of weeks for germination.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't really make any preparations for the Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Bermuda grass. My lawn is decently thick, but has some thins spots, as well as brown spots. I watered my front lawn then used my Scotts rotary spreader to apply an even layer across. After spreading I watered a bit more. Within about a week I noticed new grass growing. After about two weeks, the brown spots appeared more green and full. I'm excited to see how this progresses over the next several weeks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fast growing bermuda grass. Great for spot repair, or area where damaged grass exists. Best to aerate the section needed before planting to allow air to ground. You can use a machine or hand rake but it's pretty important if you want to get quick results. Definitely worked out in my yard with some grass that was damaged by chemical overspray. Took out the old, planted the seed and within a week had some fresh growth. Thanks for providing a reliable product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used these seeds to patch some areas on my lawn where the other seeds would always wash away and no grass was growing there. I was surprised how fast these germinated. It took about a week and I could see small sprouts. After just three weeks I can’t tell where bare spots used to be. The seeds were super easy to spread, but you have to make sure to water them a lot.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband cleaned and prepped an area between our home and our carport digging by hand everything out and then applied Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Bermudagrass to the area. He watered it faithfully daily and within a very short time it was sprouting and coming in. He planted it during this summer before it got really hot. So far we are happy with the progress and we recommend Scotts Turf Builder Grass Bermudagrass Seed to anyone looking to fill in a place that needs grass. This area gets full sun half the day and early morning and late in the day it gets shade.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Always a go to product for us. This thrf builder is great to use during the spring. It has root builders to help with strong root grow. It is basically an all in one : seed, fertilizer, and soil improvers. Make sure to keep your lawn watered daily for about a week or so, depending on your zone.

It will be some time before I can attest to efficacy of this bag, but past experience assured me a good result.
