We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix and appreciate your feedback. It is certainly frustrating to go through all the work of reseeding an area, only to have the results less than satisfactory. Water is an important factor in successful seeding. The newly seeded areas must be kept constantly moist for weeks on end. Allowing the soil to dry out even for an hour during the critical germination phase can result in seedling death. This may require that you give the seeded areas a light watering two to three times a day for the first few weeks. After that, you will still need to keep the seedlings watered on a regular basis. The soil should feel moist like a wrung-out sponge. Seeds must come into direct contact with the soil in order to germinate. A heavy cover of straw, soil, or other material will cause the seeds to rot, or severely limit germination. Cover seeds with no more than 1/4 of an inch (.63 centimeter) of topsoil or lawn soil. Two "enemies" of newly seeded lawns are herbicides and lawn diseases. While you have very little control over the outbreak of a lawn disease, do make sure that no weed control or weed prevention chemical has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass. Finally, temperature plays a critical role in seed germination. Soil temperatures must be at least 55°F (13°C) for northern type turf grass seed to germinate (Bluegrass, ryegrass, fescue). Air temperature must typically be between 60 and 80°F (15-26°C). We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Tall Fescue Mix and appreciate your feedback. This grass seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80 degree F range. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

I have been a loyal Scott’s customer for many years. Since they have repackaged the products to smaller quantities (32# instead of 40#) and doubled the price over the last 2 years, I will be purchasing another brand!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix is some of the best grass seed I have ever used. I planted it shortly after receiving the seed and it has grown nicely in areas that other seed has not grown in the past.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to wait since we had such a cold spring, but once I got this in the ground and the nicer temps came, this seed germinated really well. Its starting to come in really thick, so it seems like I had a really great germination rate. I'll definitely be using more of this.

Don't reseed before a storm..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not much to comment on here as I reseeded a day before an unexpected, I'm talking torrential downpour for hours, rain. I waited a couple of weeks and noticed a small amount of new grass sprouting. The moral is, don't expect to grow grass when the majority of seed gets washed away. One thing of note: The directions called for setting my drop spreader to about 19. This is almost wide open. I ran out of seed before 1000 square feet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grass seed has worked really well in my yard. I put this down in the spring time hoping that the cooler temps and hydration of the season would help it grow. It has done really well so far. I think it will easily cover all of the bare spots in my yard.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scott’s tall fescue is an great choice for seed. I put it down evenly and it looked great. It’s been down about 1 1/2 weeks ago and I’m already starting to see a light green hue. The seed took very quickly. I recommend this product if you are wanted to get fuller grass.

Turf Builder tall Fescue mix delivers as promised!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had many bad spots in our yard where grass just would not grow. After tilling up the ground we applied Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix and so far are pleased with the results. The grass has taken root, just as the product promised. It has just started growing but we expect it to fully cover the bare spots. A before picture is posted; with all the recent rain we expect a full yard of good grass before Spring turns to Summer in the South.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Useful for overseeding some thinner spots in my fescue lawn as well as bare spots. Works well in sun and shade areas, at least in my experience, as long as proper wateringis maintained until well established.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product to overseed my front lawn. I prepped my yard as directed. My spreader dispersed the seed mix with ease, providing an even spread. I watered as directed. The seed began to sprout at 11 days. The grass looks healthy and it should start filling in my lawn nicely.

Decent grass seed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grass seed is coated and appears to have some sort of fertilizer or clay/soil type stuff with it. It is easy to spread. I am not sure about germination rates as temperatures are just now at the right point for that stage to start. While this is an easy to use grass seed, it does have some filler in the fertilizer meaning the weight of the package is not actually all grass seed. Just something to be aware of that you will not be getting a full bag of seed. I was not able to find on the packaging if it was some sort of fertilizer to help with germination. Overall, easy to use, easy to find in the local big box stores, and will fill the need to patch up the yard in spring/fall.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I spread this in my lawn where we had two trees removed last year. We seeded in the fall but it was still patchy. It took about 12 days to see any growth, but it looks like it’s coming in nicely now. We’ve used the same seed in previous years so I’m sure it will look great in a few more weeks!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this to re-seed an area at the bottom of my deck steps. It germinated quickly and is growing is nicely. I've been pleased with it. I did add some soil amendment to the dirt, but that's simply due to the hard clay soil that I have. This grass is doing well and I'm interested to see how it fares through the hot summer here in the south.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK I had some bare spots on my lawn in multiple places, so what I did was I loosen the soil and I had some fertilizer that I put down and I planted the seed, and within don’t know maybe 10 days or so. I started noticing that there was grass growing on the spots, and now the spot is completely filled in I’m very happy with this, and I would do this again on any other bare spots. I will try to over seed in the fall with this seed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Turf builder does what it says it does, builds up the turf. My lawn looks best when I sprinkle this in after a fresh cut. The blades look stronger and I’m sure the roots are as well. I won’t use any other product on my lawn.
