Summary of reviews
The Too Faced Shadow Insurance eyeshadow primer has garnered a mix of admiration and frustration from guests. Many appreciate its lightweight formula that keeps eyeshadow vibrant and crease-free throughout the day, making it a staple in their makeup routines. However, the recent change to a wand applicator has led to dissatisfaction, with guests noting difficulties in accessing the product and concerns about the amount of product dispensed. Overall, while the primer's performance remains strong, the packaging change has left many longing for the previous squeeze tube design.

The new formula/packaging is GARBAGE

I was a diehard loyal fan of the old two faced primer in the soft plastic tube. The product was wonderful and I literally recommended it to everyone. After one use of the new product I was immediately disappointed. 1. It smells like coconut- I personally have a vert strong aversion to fake coconut smells and its absolutely terrible. 2. The formula has changed, the consistency is much thicker/dryer than the previous product. 3. You actually get less product now for the same amount (old tube was .35oz, new one is .20oz) 4. The applicator is horrible. It's like a lip gloss but the everything is absorbed in the applicator and I had to re-swab 3 times to get enough product. 5. I had a bad reaction and my eyelids were super dry and red after use. I will never be purchasing this product again. Such a shame that after using for over a decade they had to destroy a truly wonderful product.
Won't buy it again

Used to use this for years when it came in a squeeze tube. But this new hard packaging witb a wand is terrible. Fekt like it was ok for a frw weeks and now I can't get anything on the wand. Couldn't have all dried up in such a short amount of time. What a waste of money. Wish I could give this zero stars.
Does not work as well as others I have tried

This eye shadow primer does not work as it is supposed to. I only kept my shadow from creasing for about 3 hours. Didn't matter if I used frost or matte. Left my eyelid with a greasy feel. Almost as if i had put vaseline on my eyelids. I will not buy this again. The Ulta brand is much better and cheaper.

I have used this primer faithfully since it was featured in the Spring 2011 Prom edition of Seventeen magazine. Many brands and products have come and gone in my makeup bag over the years, but this one was a staple for nearly 15 years — until now. The re-packaging destroyed the formula. It dries the product up after only a few months, most is stuck in the tube (you can't get it out), and the wand design spreads it unevenly over your eyelids. It is a shadow (pun intended) of its former self, which, I kid you not, used to turn even the junkiest of eyeshadows into high quality colors that stuck to your eyelids for hours of intense and smooth coverage with no creasing. I don't even know who to switch to, I am devastated. But I must switch because the only reason I can think for doing something like this is because Too Faced knew the old tube made us buy less because it would last too long. Everyone has to rip us off these days and this product is no longer an exclusion. Save your money until they bring the squeeze tube back!

I've been using Two Faced Shadow Insurance since the squeeze tube packaging (the best!). The product is wonderful and keeps my eyeshadow on perfectly even after working out. I have now bought three shadow insurance with the new packaging and each one the lid cracks. At first I thought maybe I had dropped it or somehow my grip on it was too strong and I broke it. But even being extra careful and knowing how sensitive it is the other two still cracked. I've had to tape the lid in order to keep it together. I'm shocked no one else is talking about this.

I love the old tube that you can squeeze the primer out. I started to yse Too Faced eye primer just when Urban Decay changed their package to use a wand instead of a squeezeable tube. too Faced has changed a new design that's just as bad as UD. There are other products out there that's as good and more affordable. I dont mind paying a little more for good products but this is just nonsense. I won't be back to this until it changes to the one that's good for customers not just for the company to make more $$
I will not buy this again

This product works but they changed the packaging from a tube so this lasted 1/3 of the previous tube. You cannot get product out at a certain point, which is unappreciated!!

Love the product but hate the new packaging. I ended up pulling the stopper (not sure if that is the correct term) out of the top so I have more product on my brush and it seems to work better.

Long time user I am very disappointed with the packaging and echo everyone's comments Did the product formula change? I noticed when I use it, it dries too fast and I get a smudge look of the product. I have to wash it off and start over.

I've had the new version of this break on me twice, and the product inside dries up a lot more quickly for some reason. It's also very difficult to actually use the product once it gets down to the last third of the tube because the applicator does not reach :( That being said, the primer does its job pretty well. They just REALLY need to change the packaging.

I have used this primer for years and loved it! I will no longer buy it since they changed from a soft tube to a hard case with applicator which makes it difficult to get the product out.

I have used this primer for over a DECADE. It was my must have. They changed the packaging and it is HORRIBLE. The wand barely has product on it when it comes out, I can't squeeze out every last drop like I could the tube. The packaging is so big with what feels like less product I can get out. And for the price, it is no longer worth it. I will now have to find a new eyeshadow primer because I hate this new design so much. Please please go back to the old packaging.

This Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer quickly become a must-have in my makeup routine. The formula is lightweight and easy to blend onto my eyelids, creating the perfect base for eyeshadow. It keeps my eyeshadow vibrant and crease-free all day long, even in warmer weather or on longer days. One of the best things about this primer is how little product you actually need—just a tiny amount goes a long way. It works well with both matte and shimmer shadows, helping colors look true to pan. The finish is smooth and slightly tacky, which holds the eyeshadow well without feeling heavy or sticky. I also appreciate that it prevents any creasing, which has been a game-changer for me! Overall, if you're looking for a reliable primer that truly enhances eyeshadow wear and longevity, Too Faced Shadow Insurance is definitely worth it!

The product is still good but the new packaging stinks. You can't get all of the product out of it/it seems like it dries up soon. Go back to the squeezable tube!

I've used this primer for over 15 years— was the holy grail of eyeshadow primer… now beyond the new packaging with the wand— it's like the formula changed… mid day my eyeshadow is creasing and oily… wipes right off…. I use to go all day / night with flawless eye makeup. Now, unfortunately, I'm back to the drawing board with finding new eyeshadow primer… heartbreaking 💔
