Hoover SmartWash Pet Complete Automatic Carpet Cleaner - FH53000

The first two sections of my carpet that I cleaned went okay. When I started on the third section, the machine would not vacuum up any water. So now I have a soaked carpet in the middle of winter. I will have to drive 45 miles tomorrow to get to the nearest market that has carpet cleaning machines that actually work. It's on its way to its new home at the dump.

Have only used this carpet cleaner a handful of times to clean carpet or spot clean. No problems till this week when I went to use it. It ran for a few minutes and started making a weird sound. We shut it off and checked everything was clear inside no blockages. Turned it back on and it smelled like it was burning and making a horrible sound. We are assuming the motor went out in it. Have not even had it a full year. Very disappointed after convincing my husband that we should buy one and it burns up like this. Needless to say he is as unhappy as I am.

So glad I purchased this. It's easy to put together. It's easy to take apart and clean. The hot shot handle is great. Only thing would would have made it easier was if I had a maid to do it for me!!

I previously had a hoover spin scrub and it lasted me a good 6 years before dying so I decided to go with hoover again and after seeing this one online it looked like a great machine. I waited a week for it to come and and followed all the set up steps. As soon as I insert the solution tank it leaks all over the floor! The entire thing!! Wasted hoover cleaner and drenching the floor. I call hoover and it's like no one works there! I try online and all I get is a chat bot. This is complete bull crap. I will be returning this shampooer and going with a brand like SHARK who has better customer service because when something goes wrong with a product at least they answer the phone. Don't waste your money here.

I have owned the Bissell Big Green for 6+ years and I needed something lighter and easier to move from floor to floor in my home & for quick jobs etc I read reviews on the mid sized Bissell carpet cleaners in the $300-$400 Cdn dollars price range as I'm the owner of the Bissell Pro Heat Little Green Pet Deluxe for 6 months aswell that I use on our cars interiors and for little spills. Unfortunately the mid sized Bissell are snapping belts very often & have a pretty lousy track record so I decided it's time to try the Hoover brand & I'm thoroughly impressed and happy I did. After 6 years with the Bissell Big Green ($630) my standards are very high, it's a seriously powerful 12 amp machine with 1.8 gallon clean & dirty tanks. First off the 12 foot upholstery tool in my Hoover is a godsend vs the Big Greens 8 footer - hugely eases in stair cleaning convenience & the spray/suction is fantastic! I only wish the actual upholstery tool was a bit narrower as it doesn't fit in the stair riser (vertical carpeted area) as it's too wide vs my Big Greens tool - I'm actually on the website now to see if I can buy a narrower Hoover upholstery tool as my risers need cleaning too. Smartwash on my area rugs -- it's pretty powerful and does a great job. You need to push forward fairly slowly to really wet the rug vs the Big Green which dumps lots of liquid compared to the Hoover but that machine was about $300 more w tax also. Tip - the automatic solution dispenser in my Smartwash seems to dump to much solution imho which causes a lot of soap bubbles in the return tank which prematurely triggers the full float & I dilute the Hoover soap 50/50 w water and it's fine now. My only complaint w the Hoover is that float can also get prematurely triggered due to the angle of the handle while pushing aswell and that means you need to shut the Hoover off & wait 5 seconds for the float to drop. Conclusion - the Hoover is 24 pounds lighter vs Big Green and that's a huge plus. The Hoover has atleast 80% of the power. The upholstery tool hose length of 12 feet is definitely a great Hoover strength. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the automatic wash then dry the setup on the smartwash but once you get used to it it's actually very convenient and I like it. Another tip is when you get to the end of the forward wash stroke stop and leave the machine there until the LEDs go from wash to dry before pulling backwards seems to really help with the corners and edges at the end of your passes. For regular household use I would say the Hoover is good value for the money, If you want something heavy duty like the Bissell Big Green be prepared that it's hard to move around you need two hands to carry it you need someone in front of you to open doors unlike the Hoover which is a one-handed carry operation. Both the Hoover SmartWash and the Bissell Big Green have their place for different jobs and sizes of homes etc but for basic regular upkeep and maintenance the Hoover does the trick without the weight and bulk. For cleaning large square footage and stuff the Bissell big green is the winner just because of the huge capacity of the clean and dirty water tanks but realistically most people don't need that large of a machine.

From day one the stupid thing has leaked the cleaner out of it and you can't get ahold of any one to replace it. Biggest waste of money ever and absolutely the worst customer service. Do not wast your money!!!! Through

This machine works great but within a year the piece that connects the lid over the rollers to the base broke. I got it replaced at Starks where I bought the machine and after a very long wait, got the replacement piece. Today,after using it just a few times since, the purple piece broke again. I'm very disappointed especially since Hoover is a brand I've always trusted!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I clean my area rug in my living room area with this shampooer. This is a high traffic area with kids and pets. My rug is white and fluffy so it gets dingy looking pretty fast. I use this shampooer weekly at night while everyone is going to bed so it can dry completely by the morning. This shampooer does an amazing job at getting my rug looking fresh and clean. You can definitely see all the dirt by the darkness of the dirty water that it is pulling up off the rug. I am so glad I went with this specific model. Worth the purchase.
