I was hesitant about this and I feel like I was right to feel so. This kit came with two eggs a little bigger than the size of a plastic Easter egg. They were wrapped in plastic so they weren’t messy straight away. The plastic tools weren’t anything great, but they got the job done to scrape and break the eggs apart. It took my girls less than 10 minutes to tear through the eggs and find the dinosaurs inside. If only this activity lasted longer, I would think it was a great value. It is something different to do, but I need to get at least 30 minutes of “play” out of something like this for it to be worth it. It did come with a nice brochure about dinosaurs and a bug encased in resin. Cute, but not really worth it in my opinion.

My kids had a lot of fun opening up these dinosaur eggs. The tools provided did make it a little difficult to do so. It did take a good while for them to make progress. We were left with a chalky mess, but they enjoyed it. They got a kick out of the bonus gift included as well.

This is such a great dig kit! It does get messy, very dusty but its so much fun. My daughter had so much fun "digging" into the eggs to get her dinosaurs. I definately recomend doing it at a table with some type of cloth

My four year old has been on a dinosaur kick so this activity set was perfect for him with my help. It says it is meant for older kids, which I could see easily because my little one needed some help cracking the eggs open and liked the basic facts in the booklet, but wasn't as interested in the details. However I also have a 9 year old and I could see how someone his age would appreciate the booklet and kit. It does not take very long and is not complicated, so its a quick activity. The included dinos are small and plastic, so don't expect anything spectacular, but they worked for the purpose of excavating them out of the egg. The one part I particularly liked was that we have done some of the other gold and gem kits that are packed more in a sandy substance, and those take a lot of water and soaking to break through, whereas these eggs were more like clay and came apart easily without having to soak them.

Great product! My son really enjoys interacting with this kit set. There are lots of fun and educational pieces to this dinosaur kit. In particular, my son ejoys the full-color learning guide, which provides fascinating insight into new dinosaur toys. The included magnifying glass allows kids to get a closer look at each of the characters and puzzles included in this kit. There is imitation fossil artifacts included as well! This hands-on science kit is an exciting way to explore the awesome world of paleontology right at home! I recommend this product to others!

My son liked the dinosaur fossil dig. It took awhile to do one egg, so you get your money’s worth. He thought it took and did ask for help. Using the water on it softened it and made it easier to dig. He loved the dinosaur he got!!

The National Geographic Dino Egg Dig kit was so much fun and very interesting. The kit comes with 2 eggs, dino poop, dig tool and brush, everything you need for an interesting adventure. The eggs are very thick, which takes awhile to dig through it and see the dinosaur, which provides hours of fun for my daughter. Excavating the dinosaurs was so awesome and made some great memories doing it .

This set definitely gets messy. I suggest doing this outside on concrete. After the fun times, just spray the substance with a water hose. Whatever the dinosaurs eggs are, it was easy to break apart and clean up with a hose. Besides that, the kids love it. They used various things to break the eggs. It kept them busy for about an hour. Out came two dinosaurs. We got to talk about the names and general stuff about dinosaurs. I see them continuing to play with them so that's great.

I got this for my older boys (ages 7 and 9) but I would recommend this for the younger kids. I'm thinking ages 5 to 6 would be best because my kids completed the activity in less than five minutes. When they got to the dinosaurs they weren't really excited about it. They kind of looked at each other like, this is it? I think younger kids would think the small dinosaurs are really cool! They would probably even think the dinosaur "poop" was real. My nine year old said, there's no way this is real dinosaur poop and trashed it. :(

My children loved digging into the eggs to find the Dinosaurs. We bought this as a Christmas gift. The eggs fit into the plan of your hand and it comes with tools to break into the eggs. This keeps them engaged for a good 30 mins to an hour.
