Q: Hi. I bought this vacuum couple months ago. It works super well on hardwood floor but on carpet, it is EXTREMELY difficult to move and push even with level 2 Brushroll. Is there something wrong? Help!

A: Ilove mine, Recently I accidentally sucked up gum balls and luckily this vacuum has a cup things like that go into and I flipped open thetop door and took them out and finished my floors. Good luck.

submitted byhb - 6 years agoA: Like most vacuum cleaners there is a suction control actually just a little round ring that usually fits down on the handle and you can either open it which will give you the ability to vacuum rugs or throw rugs without having to feel like you’re pushing 400 pounds if you feel it’s not strong enough then you can close it some and you will get section ever sincecame out that’s it that’s all I buy. I will refuse to buy a Dyson one. It is expensive to. They will fall apart easily and for the third one I just don’t like them.
submitted by6kidsinall - 6 months agoA: I would say there is something wrong with yours. We have had ours for 2 years and it is the easiest vacuum I’ve owned so far. I’ve never had an issue with this vacuum and I actually traded my Kirby in for this one. There is little to no resistance using this on the carpet with the brush roll on. LOVE this vacuum.

A: You can turn off what I think you’re talking about, the brush roll, by putting it on bare floor.

A: Ours was making a high pitched noise and has zero suction. Checked hoses and large ome was completed blocked by a building block and trash!

PROS: Amazing suction, really great on hard floors (doesn't spew stuff like most), maneuvers well without being floppy, canister is roomy and really easy to remove for emptying. CONS: Great suction means it's a bit of a workout to use. Edges are too high to fit under cabinets, not able to get under sofas. Replaced my Rocket - this is far superior but bulkier.

I was shocked at how difficult this was to push on carpet! No self-propel at all. On-off/carpet to floor button is in a terrible location. I made the mistake of tossing the box before actually using it, so now I'm stuck with it until I can afford a different one. Note to self, read the reviews before buying!

I don't know what I could be doing wrong. I got this for Christmas and have only used it twice. Both times I could barely push it across the floor. It seemed to move more smoothly when I was pulling it back but pushing it forward feels like I am going to damage the carpet. I would love any and all suggestions.

This vacuum works great for a basic vacuum but Not so great with pet hair or when used on wood/tile floors. It sucks up the dog hair but it all catches in the brush and then needs to cleaned out way to often in my opinion. And on tile or wood floor it tends to spit the debris out the back of the vacuum. If you have sheeding pets I would not recommend

I purchased this product because my old Shark upright started making funny noises and I must say this Navigator absolutely SUCKS and not in a good way. It's a poor design and I can't stand this product. I will be looking into other brands from now on

Suction Is good but the rest of the vacuum is cheap. Doesn't even have half the features of the one I bought years ago. Capacity has been reduced, no light, the swivel head has reduced motion, weighs the same if not slightly more then my older one

I replaced a Shark Rotator that I loved with this piece of crap. It is poorly engineered and lacks the features I loved on my old Rotator. No headlight for dark corners, the carpet/bare floor switch is placed in an awkward place on the body of the machine instead of on the handle. The poor cord is located in a place that makes it a trip hazard as it tends to run between your legs. The accessories are garbage too as it the bracket they attach to, once again being located on the handle of the machine which gets in the way of operation. The balance of the machine is off and leans to the left. Sometimes the power head quits self propelling on carpet. Do you have a live person test these machines before you sell them. The latches that release the hose are in a place that is difficult to access and hard to release. I would never have purchased this machine had I known it would be so awkward, heavy and difficult to handle. If I could return it I would-in fact I may ask the place I bought it if I can. I hate it so much that I decide to take my old Rotator into the shop to have it repaired at a cost more than I paid for this stinker. If I were you I'd pull it off the market and do some work on it. I'll never purchase a Shark product again. I hate it.

I bought this 9 months ago, in March 2024, it’s my 4th shark. The first 2 worked great, the least expensive is still used on the upstairs carpet sometimes. When the 2nd died I bought a Shark® Rotator® Pet Upright Vacuum with PowerFins® HairPro™ and Odor Neutralizer Technology. It was completely useless and left a 4” trail of dirt around the parameter of my area rugs. It was gut wrenching to push. I returned it after 2 uses. I then bought the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe Upright Vacuum (the one I’m reviewing). It wasn’t much better to use, extremely hard to push, didn’t pick up on the first 3 or 4 go overs, and still left some dirt around the area rugs. At this point I was so fed up with trying to find a good vacuum that I gave up and kept it. I ran over the cord this week and the cord got chewed up and frayed. How is this even possible that it wants to eat the cord and yet has trouble picking up an acceptable amount of dust, dirt or fur? I have no idea how sharks are rated so well in reviews. So disappointed in shark. I don’t know what they changed since my first two but the last two have been awful.

I'm very pleased with how this vacuum performs on both carpet and laminate flooring. It does a great job getting the pet hair off any surface. The removable canister feature is great for doing stairs and furniture. The filters are easy to rinse out.

For the price, this vacuum does the job. Powerful suction and a bagless system help to ensure that your floors and carpets are free from dust, pet hair, and crumbs! With kids and pets, this vacuum was a great choice. It is not fancy but it gets the job done. The only downside is it is slightly awkward to use the hose extender. Overall happy with this purchase.

Awful to use on carpets

On flat surfaces ard VERY thin carpet, it works fine. But for carpets with any depth of pile it requires a lot of effort to move across the surface. It has a suction adjustment feature but even with that on the least suction setting, it is still hard to move across a carpet.

This may be the worst vacuum I’ve ever used. I returned it without hesitation. I can confirm the other reviews are correct, you have to really work to move this across carpet even with the suction turned down, making it near impossible to use. It’s like the suction goes straight down so you have nothing helping you move forward (like my Dyson, when new, practically pulled me across the room). You’d think this would make a great vacuum! With the strong suction but it basically picked up dust and small dirt and left anything larger. It also has a small head, about the size of my stick vacuum. It looks and feels cheap. After this I cleaned up my old Dyson and decided it wasn’t that old yet and I’m definitely hesitant to buy a Shark vacuum again.
