Shark PowerDetect Upright Vacuum with DuoClean Detect Technology and Self-Cleaning Brushroll Purple - AZ3901: HEPA Filter, Multi-Surface, Pet Hair

I bought this vacuum - wasn't given one to review. I hate it. When you are done vacuuming a room you will feel like you spent an hour at the gym. I gave up trying to vacuum a rug, even at the proper setting it will suck up the rug and jam the unit. I gave up using the detect setting and just use the low pile carpet setting. The speed up, slow down over and over gets annoying in the detect mode. My old shark picks up more hair from our 4 dogs and 2 cats than the new one and have had shark vacuums for many years

First, I want to say how much I love Shark products, as I have owned 6 Shark vacuums, but this PowerDetect is NOT one that I love. Let me give you some Pros and Cons. *Pros: Powerful! It will suck the teeth out of your grandpa's mouth from 100 feet away LOL. Attachments are a monumental improvement over the last few Sharks I have bought. Larger dust bin is awesome with 2 Golden Retrievers and 2 Labs in the house. Long electrical cord is always the best from Shark. This is a power lift away, meaning most mechanically driven attachments from previous Sharks will fit. I will always love my mechanically driven pet brush that came with my Shark Apex model and was super happy it worked with this PowerDetect. *Cons: Too powerful! It ruined 2 rugs during a 2-day trial period. The stronger power is NOT good for washable rugs. I had to use high pile setting, but felt it did not work as well. AutoDetect was not good in my house, due to rug runners throughout. AutoDetect is not quick enough to detect scatter rugs and will eat them, then shut off. Because it can't switch to new surfaces fast enough, the rollers would stop and required shutoff and restart. I had to shutdown and restart no less than 20 times in 1 day. Super aggravating and time consuming. Each time the vac is restarted, you must manually reselect hard floor, low pile, or high pile, as it automatically goes back to autodetect. I could not vac dog beds with this model, as I have done with my Shark Apex. The rollers stopped and I had to restart. I tried my Shark mechanical pet brush on my washable rugs, and it worked like a charm. HOWEVER, I'm not willing to vacuum my entire downstairs (1k sq ft) with a 4 inch wide vacuum. ;-) I did not experience the edge PowerDetect like the videos show. It still left some dirt/dog hair that the hose picked up later. I am returning this model. I must find a new dust bin for my Shark Apex model. We will wait for the next model to come out and will try again, as I said before I absolutely love Shark products.

After putting the vacuum together, I was anxious to try it. I rolled a short distance back and forth just twice on the area rug in the living room and my husband thought we had received a used vacuum, "where did ALL of that come from?!" when he glanced at the canister. I was skeptical about paying up for a new vacuum, but I'm happy we did. The no-wrap roller was my primary selling feature with 4 long haired females in the house and it truly works without wrapping. It's easy to maneuver and I also love the ability to vacuum under furniture, especially under the couches. On hard wood, it doesn't blow dust and hair-bunnies in all directions, it just sucks them up instead. It's less quiet when it runs full Power Detect, but it's still the most quiet vacuum we've ever owned.

Too heavy to push. Don't detect change from carpet to floor. Doesn't pick up everything from carpet.

Just bought this 2 days, with my own money, arrived today, and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! We just moved into our new rental, and the dirt/dust/hair this vacuum sucked up is literally like a god send!!! The suction power is great, it is on the heavy side but absolutely worth the price and power it haz.i have never loved a vacuum more than i do right now. I can actually breathe in my house now

WORKED GREAT until the rotator belt broke. Now I cannot find a site on Shark for how to repair or rep lace the belt.

Just received my product and while it's great on the floors, it doesn't have a motorized brush accessory like my last Shark True Pet product. The "power" pet brush rotates due to suction and will stop turning easily or with a little bit of pressure. Assuming I was getting a motorized brush accessory is the key reason I chose the True Pet upgrade but you can't even buy a motorized one on the website - not good. And it is a bit heavier than my last Shark upright.

It has an auto detect on it so it can detect what type is flooring it’s vacuuming and adjusts itself as need. And the suction on it is amazing as well!! It picks up things off the floor with such ease and emptying it is also easy and makes cleaning more bearable!

This machine really sucks! (In a good way) We've had this machine since Christmas, and I am very impressed. Believe everything you've seen, heard or read about it. We couldn't be more satisfied with the features and performance. It's worth every penny!

Bought this vacuum 3 months ago ago and have lived with it for it now so I can review it now with some experience. The vacuum is indeed powerful enough to do a great job although I find it’s a bit awkward compared to our last vacuum a Dyson. Overall the Shark does what says it will do performance wise. It’s with the design that I have a few problems with. The major issue is the horrible choose of cords they chose to put on this machine. It is stiff and not at all as flexible as it should be. It easily gets caught on anything it can’t get around. It’s near impossible to wrap neatly back on the vacuum. I curse it every time I have to deal with it and had I’d been aware of this I would never have bought this vacuum in the first place even though I have had other Shark vacuums in the past and loved them. The one other issue I have with it is the the cord exits the canister on the left side so when separated you have to hold the canister backwards so that stiff wire doesn’t get caught on things while using it. Lastly the rubber tip of the long handle wand when you use it alone to get into small areas is made of some type of rubber that leaves rubber marks on anything it rubs up against if used without an attachment.. Other than that it performs well.

Great vacuum specially how it has smart technology from hardwood to carpet.

Two uses and it’s great. Sucks up everything. THIRD USE IT SHOCKS THE WIFE AND DIES. Yes they are sending parts but another week plus of waiting. Why parts and not a new vacuum? Why normal shipping and not expedited shipping?

I was absolutely blown away with the pet pro self cleaning brush. I own a black cat and have a white linen couch… I could never get the little balls of fur/lint off the couch. I used the pet pro attachment and am blown away with how well it removed ALL the pet hair off my couch. I’m not one to leave reviews but I RUSHED to the website after cleaning my couch. I am so impressed and will recommend this vacuum to anyone with pets.

I'm very happy with this I have 2. One thing I can say is if you have poor breakers in your home it will trip them. That is from it going from one setting to the other. To fix this issue set it on the setting you are using. It has great suction but like anything it's not gonna go over a pile of sugar and get it all. The front roller will push stuff sometimes but not often. Love the light on the handle. Wish would go back to the beater bar that had many more rows of material to help pull up off of carpet. The thin fins I don't feel are strong enough wear out fast. Still I love it! Just some things that can be worked out.

Overall This vacuum delivers powerful cleaning, but its bulkiness, toxic freshener, and design flaws make it less suitable for a smaller home like mine. Navigating tight spaces and a spiral staircase is challenging, and I miss the simpler, sturdier build of older models. It’s effective but not an ideal fit for my needs. This is a honest review vs the many reviews on this site that received gifted products for their reviews.

I bought this as a present for my wife. We have a Kirby and my Wife hates it. Too heavy and bulky. She loves the Shark. Light weight and very powerful.

I just bought this and ran it 5 minutes. It;s already shutting off and getting clogged. It;s very, very heavy to use when not in autodetect mode. It wouldn't stayt in auto detect. It's very annoying to have to stop every 5 minutes, check everything, wiat 30-40 minutes and start again. It does have a very powersuction and the lifet away feature has been my favorite part about the shark line

I’m impressed by the vibrations on the rug settings. Does a great job getting the fine things up. We have 5 pets and it holds up well against them!! The roller truly gets nothing tangled in it. This little hose is amazing!
